Hello Everyone,

I just bought GR86 already did few hundred miles and as usual with any new car went through all menus and settings to set all stuff according to my preferences.
When everything was default, I'm pretty sure that when I was locking/unlocking doors, the car makes double beep outside. Now it's not doing that no longer, and I'm not able to find any related setting in the car settings menu under any tab.

I waste already so much time and just not sure if I'm wrong, can't find it, or it wasn't ever in place? Can you please confirm if the door lock should beep and where to look for the proper option to enable it?

Welcome to our zoo.
My car doesn't beep. When unlocking there are two flashes of the indicators and I can hear the doors unlock. When locking the car from the fob there's one flash and you can hear the doors lock. No beeping.

Hi,

I think the double beep you maybe heard is when the ignition or accessory are on and you get out the car and either try to lock via fob or touch pad on handle but it double beeps to warn you it hasn’t locked so you need to turn accessory/ignition off.

Can you please confirm if the door lock should beep and where to look for the proper option to enable it?
Nope, there's no external beep when locking because we don't have an alarm circuit to make that beep. You just get to hear the rhythmic clunking of the locking circuits. Whenever I lock my car I find it almost theraputic to do my door check to a sort of "Shave and a Haircut - 2 cents" call and response couplet, as per my video taken today, just for your pleasure. Having done it a few times, I now can't lock my car without going through this process ... :) 🥁

@grzoostuff yes, when I'm leaving a car with a running engine, it beeps twice. Something like that I would expect when locking the door. Every time when I'm leaving the car, I'm getting crazy by being unsure if the car is really locked or not.

@Sonic it's interesting, my Miata do not have any alarm circuit but making beeps when locking the door, and it's configurable from infotainment menu. I'm surprised it's not here. But I was same surprised when realized there is no rain sensor and automatic rear mirror in 21st century car.

Let me take the opportunity, since we are talking about electronics and beeps... I noticed that blind spot monitoring system is working by lighting up amber led on the mirror but not making any sound warning, which is strange for me. Especially when all other silly systems making a lot of noise, mostly for nothing. This one I really would like to hear. So again my question is if this standard and only behavior of this system?

I can imagine this sort of question should not be applicable for GR86, but I'm using this car for daily commuting at first place and some features which should make life a bit easier are welcome.

On mine the amber lights show when in reverse with the bms is enabled, and only beeps when something is detected, such as a car passing behind you.

Mine is the same as this, it only beeps when it detects a vehicle while in reverse gear

No beep for me. The locking noise does however sound like pieces of plastic securing the doors :ROFLMAO:

My 2024 premium with about 1100 miles does an audible single chirp sound when locking, double chirp when unlocking the doors.

Regardless of if either the key fob is used or the door handle touch lock/unlock.

It can get a little 'off-tangent' in there sometimes ...

There is a beeper of some sort though, as it beeps if you leave teh car with the ignition on / engine running.

There is a setting which turns on/off the sound made by the key fob and keyless door handles.
I'm sure you can get on it via the entertainment system, but it's accessibly by the gauge cluster.

Car Settings -> Keyless Entry -> Audible Sound [ON/OFF]

I verified turning it on and off and how it affected the beeping sound.
