(Also posted on the GR86.org forum, but thought I might as well try here. Sorry for anyone reading it twice!)

Just wondering if anyone has come across the same issue as me and resolved it:

Whenever I drive over a sharp bump in the road, I can hear a loud "clack" or "slap" sound coming from what sounds to be behind the driver's door card.
One sharp bump will trigger one "clack" noise, and a series of sharp bumps (imagine a really rough rumble strip) will trigger a series of "clack" "clack" "clack" noises.

It happens with the window open and closed, or anything in between. Although, it seems loudest with the window partly open.
I've pushed my arm up against the window to try and suppress the noise, but that made no difference.

I've had the door card off and had a poke about, but can't seem to spot anything that's loose or could move about.
The only things I think could be a maybe, are the door handle/lock pull cables, but they're wrapped in foam - mostly.

I also thought it could be related to the "pop" sound people are getting when opening their windows, which is solved by fitting a fibre washer to the regulator. I did this fix which has stopped the more common "pop", but made no difference to the "clack" sound I'm getting from driving over bumps in the road.

Picture below illustrates, where the noise sounds like it's coming from, but I'm fully aware that sounds travel from obscure places in cars.

Knowing my luck with interior rattles, this weird one will be unique to me, but any help and suggestions welcome!

You didn't say whether it was a metallic or plastic sound. Just couple of thoughts - are your door hinges and wing mirror fixings still sound? Also, is the moisture barrier fully smooth and 100% attached? May well turn out to be something silly like that.

Quite difficult to tell, I suppose a more plastic sound than metallic, but certainly not clearly one or the other.
Door hinges and wing mirrors all good.
Moisture barrier still attached too. I checked all this when I had the door card off.

There’s a couple of white plastic retaining clips across the middle of the door card - did they all ‘pop’ back in when you put it back on?

Yup, pretty sure they did. I’ve also put felt round those holes to make everything nice and snug.

Finally solved this!

I must have had the door card off at least 5 times, putting various bits of foam in places, and the no avail.
It turns out, the door lock had come slighty loose, allowing it to rattle around in the door. Fixed by tightening the torque screw inside the door skin.
