GR86 Deep Sumps

The HKS looks different to the normal drop in baffles. It has that whole cast section which none of the others have had almost making it a sump within a sump. It will be interesting to see the data on it though. HKS are a giant of a company in the tuning world so I hope they have done their homework.

The larger pans work no doubt but is not a cure to the problem. It is just throwing more oil at it.
Yeah, maybe a different way to tackle it. Definitely need to see some data on it.

The gen1 (gt86/brz) had 0.4L higher engine oil capacity. I wonder if by reducing the capacity (for environmental consideration) in the gen2 hasnt helped us here. Hard to tell unless the design of the oiling system is identical between the two though!

I was fairly sure multiple baffle options / designs were tested over the last couple of years, with little to no improvement and the community had settled on extra capacity being the cure. Would be interested to see some data backing up the design for the HKS offering to see if it actually helps
The designs I've seen look pretty generic, I'm sure if you could find it many of these came out before the problems with oiling on this platform manifested itself. The HKS design is unlike anything else, it looks like they have done there homework.

I hope its not too pricey, I like the deep sumps, the extra oil capacity is always welcome, oil acts like a cooling medium too, so more of it is never a bad thing but I do think they expensive, then again these are bespoke small batch products.

Well this is baffling.... Sorry.

My Formula Delta oil pan turned up today. It looks amazing, feels solid with a premium finish from the casting, the baffle design and machine work.

Cannot wait to see the fittement , are you having different headers put on?

Kevin Vo has just released an interesting sum-up of this issue.
Lot of drivers in the racing clips, plus others, tracking oil pressure - plus spoken with a few at track days also doing this. What are people using to do this? As I plan on going to track quite a few times this year and will definitely start to monitor this.

I use the the GJP box. https://www.geraldjustprojects.com/product/gjp-io-box/ with oil pressure from the OE switch location. Have done several trackdays with it.

The dips are real, although I dont think anyone knows where the danger zone really is. I'll be getting the FD Pan soon, look forward to hearing UK folks thoughts on it!

I originally ordered the oil pan, to go on my first gen BRZ which now has an FA24 swap 😲 - I've been meaning to do a post about it, but just haven't got round to it and its not been as straight forward as first imagined, so I've also lacked motivation to do anything in that area . 😔
Althought I'm hopeful it should be finished soon, finger crossed it'll be ready for Japfest in a couple of weeks. Once its finalised I'm planning to do atleast two trackdays before attempting to fit the pan, that way I can get some inital oil pressure date to reference, so it'll be a couple of months yet. The car currently has an ACE CS400 exhaust manifold, so I'll need to see if it fits alongside this manifold.

And if it doesn't fit, I've already planned for that. Initally the plan was for it to go on my brothers GR. However since I've had the FA24 conversion, I'm actually considering changing the exhaust manifold, why. The car is also fitted with a Harrop supercharger 😁. The ACE CS400 manifold, is designed for low end torque which was perfect for an N/A FA20 application, however with the PD supercharger I don't need a manifold with low end torque, I need top end power / torque, not that it doesn't make enough power as is. Also since FD have announced the 3d printed pans with extra capacity I might order one of these, and then the cast pan will go on my brothers GR.
