GR86 Daylight running lights and indicators

Is this a fault or a feature on my car?

During the day when my daylight running front lights are on, I notice that when I indicate left or right the headlight on that side goes off until the indicator is cancelled and then goes back on. This does not happen on our RAV4, so is it a "feature" or a fault on GR96s.

It's a feature - not only on the GR86. Not sure if it's in legislation, but it's to make it easier to see the indicator against the glare of the DLR.

Common on lots of vehicles to blank or dim the DRL when the indicator is on.
Depending on the lamp design it can very hard to see the indicator against a bright DRL
