I had the car up on the trolley jack this morning to clean underneath and spotted what appears to be signs of corrosion where the rear subframe is fitted to the chassis. Its on both sides but one side looks to be worse than the other.

Anyone else seen this, should I be worried ? Car is just under 3 years old.

Mine is about 16 months old, covered about 28k km and used right through winter, and on some very salty roads 😬

No obvious corrosion though, thankfully.

Mine started rusting in the exact same spot after 16 months of ownership. Did Toyota fix the problem and if so how did they do it?

I spoke to the dealer and they went with the surface corrosion line, normal, nothing to worry about. I went at with a wire brush and most of the surface rust came away. I then gave it a liberal coating of Dynax and will continue to monitor it.

The hubs were taken apart last week to fit extended wheel studs and they look like they came off a ten year old car, not one that’s two years old, hardly driven at all between October and March and stored in a heated garage. I think when our GRY’s are ten years old rust, all over the underside, is going to be a big issue.

A few photos in the thread below prompted @Michael Knight 's similar reference to the ten year milestone.
