There's hell of a lot of second hand low mileage GRYs sat around for months on end that aren't selling. It's a limited market especially when people research the price of brake discs etc. The car has to be more than money, it's about fun. Mines a standard spec, apart from tyres springs/spacers and I love racing other cars on the road. Puts a grin on my face every time I use it. And yes, it's thrashed

I suspect part of the problem is that people are holding out for more to be made, when they officially say stop I suspect people will start picking up the used cars in bigger numbers.

Either way, it's a great car to use daily, brilliant in icy conditions, great in the wet and economical if driven carefully (which is rarely). Bring on the snow

I bought my GRY by accident. Went into dealership to buy an Aygo for the Mrs and walked away having put a deposit down for a cancelled GRY which was just sat there. Didn't know much about them other than it was 4 wheel drive, which is what i needed because of where i live. Don't regret it one bit and there is nothing new to match it in the price range.

On the track, there have been comparisons between the CiP and the CoP/Standard car. Pistonheads were meant to have done an on-the-road comparison, but it was an awful piece and I'm not sure they actually compared two cars, and instead made lots of incorrect assumptions.

The mantra early on from a lot of the reviewers was "you'd be an idiot to get anything other than the circuit pack", said by people who hadn't driven anything other than the circuit pack. There are a handful of people who have driven a CiP and a non-CiP in the UK to compare them. I'm not sure there are (m)any who have owned both and driven them on the road and lived with them for an extended period to truly compare them.

I was one of the 146 (ish) idiots who went for the CoP car. I'm very happy that I did, and I think if I'd gone for the CiP or indeed the Standard pack, I'd have been happy too. It's a cracking car. There are many who aren't satisfied with the car in any of the 'out of the factory' formats - and so change the wheels, tyres, suspension, exhaust, intake, brakes, etc. So it's definitely a case of each to their own.

I use mine as a daily driver, doing about 12,000 miles a year. I'm not going to be tracking it, although I do fancy one of these driving limit days that have been organised on here.

Why did I pick the CoP car, and what do I like about it?
  • It's a GR Yaris - they're bloody good cars, especially on the B-roads round here
  • The HUD, think all cars should have one
  • Sound system is pretty good (once the speakers loosened up)
  • I definitely appreciate the parking sensors, blind spot monitoring, and rear-traffic alert when driving on busy city streets
  • Suspension feels great on all surfaces (to be fair, the CiP felt really good on my test drive as well on pot-holed city streets)
  • Love the look of the Enkei wheels (although they're a bastard to clean, and I know the CiP wheels are objectively 'better')
  • Tyres - heard lots of bad things about the Dunlops, but they've been great on wet roads, and I'll be trying something different when they need changing, but not because I'm unhappy with them
  • It's a GR Yaris.
What it wrong/missing?
  • The LSDs, obviously. If I could have had the JDM-spec car, like many, that's what I'd have gone for - with everything on it.
  • The Toyota sat-nav isn't great - it's good, but I prefer to use Waze. Anecdotally, it appears that the presence of the Toyota sat-nav does improve the road-sign recognition though. If Toyota can show the 'next-step' instructions on the HUD like they do with the Toyota sat-nav, then that would be even better.
  • Red brake-callipers - who doesn't like them?
  • The ability to set the iMT to always on at start-up, with lane-assist off by default, etc. - but that's all the GRYs!
  • A driver who would get the most out of the car and appreciate the LSDs and better handling!
Just my 2ps-worth.
 
Twin LSD's means I get to the Subway quicker for my lunchtime meatballs. You couldn't beat me on a roundabout even if you went straight over it :p

That's the biggest failing of the CoP; the wheels are a nightmare to keep clean

I test drove a standard/base GR and now own a Circuit Pack. I didn't notice any difference in the driving experience, although the test drive was at lunch time in and around west Edinburgh! I don't really see why anyone would go for the base model, but can see how the Convenience pack would be... convenient.. for your needs. I'd have gone for the full combined spec too if available.

The standard model will drive like the CoP, but is a few grand cheaper - makes a lot of sense for many I think. Especially if people are intending to change their wheels, etc.

Mine is used as a daily workhorse, even trips to the tip. It probably won't be on the road in 10 years 🤔 especially how the Mrs drives it

From a collector's perspective, a circuit pack stored for 15 years with a couple of thousand miles on it may get a nice return, but where's the fun in that. It's too good to keep locked away
 
On the road, I can't say I noticed any difference in my extended test in a base model, compared to the Circuit I own. I'm not good enough to explore the benefits on tract either, but waiting that long, I was only going for the LSDs. :)

Haha yep! Went for 6 spokes on my winter wheels, so much easier! Shame they are white though… Well, two-tone white and brake-dust-brown 😁
 


Many videos have been made regarding just how good the CP edition of the GR Yaris is especially on track, thus the name 'Circuit Pack'

The above video shows you how good the four wheel drive system is on normal roads, only it's the non CP variant being tested. What a pity lazy motor journalism didn't test them in a similar way rather than just writing them off as the wrong choice.
 
Well I picked up my new GR Yaris last week. Ended up with a Circuit pack which was brand new as a cancelled order. Made up really, did notice drivers seat seems lower than on my original ?
