Not really, no. I will review the new GR86 when it comes out and I'll bet I'll like it. But, I don't change cars frequently as I had the GT86 for 8 years. Will probably do the same with the Yaris. Plus I definitely do not want to spend any more money. Him indoors will kill me. 🤣

The above comment from a year ago was about whether I'd swop from my GR Yaris to a GR86. What a difference a year makes. :ROFLMAO:

Yep, I've succumbed and I guess after speaking yet again with Ross who I blame entirely that I'm an FR Girl at heart! I couldn't resist and as the finance on my GR Yaris was coming up in June which slightly unhelpfully coincides with my wedding, I have taken the plunge. Thankfully my long suffering fiance knows me very well and he knows that a nice car will mean happy wife, happy life. :ROFLMAO:

This is a GR86 in red registered on 29 December 23 as a dealer demo, hence the dash cams and the GR bodykit. It was never used and had 12 miles on the clock. 16 now I've had a quick spin in it. I knew it was the right car for me. I can't pick it up till the end of June as RRG has to have a GR car on it's demo fleet even if nobody can drive it. They are awaiting for their new GR Yaris to come. Go figure eh. But once that comes they can release my car.

Very excited and I will be going on track later in the summer and I envisage a Euro trip next year. :)

Nice. Not sure about the body kit; I like the side skirts but not the black panel behind the vents. Tbh, I would have preferred an ex demo or used approved myself, just to save money, but wasn't sure we'd ever see more than the initial batch in the UK.

If you like Ross' Remark exhaust and want one for yourself, then give me a shout; I gave it a try but it was a tad loud for me, so I still have it up for sale with only a couple of hundred miles on it.

Congrats traitor ;)

.... if it weren't for our winters and rally roads here, and to some degree the need of a somewhat usable rear seat, I would be in a GR86 too...

I think trying to find a still 'new' one is quite the task, so I didn't mess about. Though mine was registered as a demo it was never used. I definitely didn't save any money paying list at £35,190! Plus used car APR rates. It was more expensive than the Yaris! But the truth is they will easily sell it. I did have the opportunity of a demo that had been used with 2400 miles on the clock for £32K but my preference is for a new car. I have paid the price.

I haven't properly heard Ross's exhaust yet, though he does owe me lunch so I know that will involve me driving his car. I may look at an exhaust as I have changed the exhaust on pretty much every car I've owned. How much is it up for? Really I'd need to check out Ross's as I'm always mindful of drone at cruising speeds. I'd want to check that.

Haha! It never snows in Manchester, but it does love to rain. I have all those wet roundabouts to look forward to! :ROFLMAO:

Ooof. I would have hoped that an ex demo might net you a discount...I remember getting my GT86 as an ex demo with 300 miles on the clock for 5 grand cheaper. But I guess the demand for these is still quite high, and your one is still delivery miles. The important thing is you got one!

Ross and many others really praised the Remark, and I was curious so wanted to try it out. But although it did sound good, the cold start was a bit much for me, so it's available if you want it. I think it droned a bit at about 4k, but was fine cruising at motorway speeds. Link to the listing below, I only put a hundred or so miles on it so it's still pretty much new. Think they retail for about 500 quid now.

Looks good with the body kit, and the red is one of the best colours for it I think, would have gone with that if smurf blue had not been available.

Not sure whether it will be as quick as the Yaris on grass, though? Did RRG offer you the off-road package?

😁

Congrats! Unusual to find an unused demonstrator let alone with the body kit fitted. The red does seem to wear it well and from the pictures it looks a decent colour match. I think my inclination would be to ditch the front wing vent garnishes and add the boot spoiler and wheel some spacers.

Hope it ticks the boxes the Yaris didn’t manage for you 👍🏻

Yay! Never seen that kit before, certainly changes the looks of it.

Enjoy!

The black demo car I drove last year had the body kit, I think it looks better on the red car, hope you enjoy it!

I'd add a pic but can't work out how to reduce the file size as the original is 2.5mb and I don't want to slow the forum down.

Well it was registered to RRG Macc but never used and as you know these cars are so sought after. It's not an ex-demo, more pre-reg as any car with no miles on it is going to be. I'm a bit reluctant for an exhaust that has deleted the rear silencer. That to me is a recipe for drone and that you only managed a 100 miles says a lot. I'll see what Ross's is like first I think. No rush. Am always one of those who likes to try their car stock to see where I don't like to waste money. Got my eye on some T7R Work wheels, but that will be next year I expect.

Yeah understood. It was too much for me. But everyone was raving about it so much for the cost, I wanted to give it a try. Unfortunately, I think the only real way to guage exhausts is to hear them in person.

This should give you an idea @Lauren it's not particularly loud. Cold start, as commented on, is a little loud, but no worse than a resonated exhaust on a GT86 imo.

For some odd reason, there seems to be a resonant frequency at 2k rpm and 4k rpm that causes a noticeable increase in volume. Decelerating through those rev ranges is quite loud inside, but as long as you're not cruising at those rpms, it's not major. You learn to drive around it really.

For the sake of ~£400 new, it sounds every bit as good as most catback exhausts imo, and has a massive weight saving associated. It's definitely still my preferred option after well over a year of hearing lots of other options. There are better sounding systems, but for 4-5x the cost.

In other news, I take full responsibility for my part in your choice. I'm happy to see you back in a car that suits you.

Congratulations on the new purchase. I like the kit, I only went front bumper and spoiler but was close to going for side vents. I won't lie i kinda like the natural flow of the side without the skirts!

I did the same from Yaris to GR86 and although I miss the Yaris I don't regret the change. 86 is much more fun at normal speeds!

Hope June arrives quick for you.

Ah thanks all, feel really excited about coming back to 86 life. :)

Would you believe it, I have three sleeps to go. I pick the car up on Saturday and am still getting my head round it. I will of course be meeting Ross for lunch, that is a bit overdue as he couldn't get to RRG early enough to meet me for my handover. I remember his on a cold December morning! I will see how Ross's exhaust sounds, maybe I'll like it. I have had this issue before though with drone when coming down through the revs which I'm sure I picked on testing a system previously. My Yaris exhaust is revised to get rid of that drone.

I feel really excited about getting my new car. I think it will very much more suit me and I can't wait to get out in it. :) My fiance is mourning the old one, but he always seems to do that. I'm not sure I'll be able to many mods for a bit of time as I have a wedding to pay for. Getting the Ghost swopped over on Tuesday, need to get the sub out and harness too. All that and naturally a bloody insurance increase has made it an expensive week already.

When I read the thread title I was expecting 10 degrees of negative camber and a sump dragging along the floor. Now I realise that "bagged" was referring to the acquiring of a car I'm much happier. Have fun with it :)
