GR Yaris Coilovers

For those who would like to see how the basic H&R look like. No slotted hole for camber adjustment like they sometimes do for other car brands. No damping adjustement of course, and not as stiff as we might initially think given the numbers in the chart above. A good compromise for someone who doesn't want to radically transform their GRY, or get lost in settings.

These aren't the H&R Clubsports, right?

Does Bilstein do clubsports for the GR Yaris? Haven’t found them anywhere and haven’t heard anyone discussing them so far… just curious really

Protlum provides nice rally kit for GR's. Would add to the post but cannot edit it.

So the power steering is different for STD/Conv vs Circuit? Can't say I've noticed at all but this is the second time I've heard something like this in the past few months (and I've been absorbing all info about the GRY since they were announced)

Anyone know for sure what's different, if so? Maybe my Convuit Pack isn't as complete as I thought. I wonder what steering the Aussie Rallye version has

it could have different calibration as they did the tweaking in Japan also for customers. but don't have any other detail to proof.

If you have a set and more detail please update on the thread so I can fill the table.

Playing around with the idea of buying some coilovers. Looking for minimal ride height drop to give clearance in rutted snow and icy roads that we have over here in winter. Teins are jumping out as an option to try.. minimal drop from OEM, long service life, cheap enough to replace if needed. Would love to go full on bonkers with Bigem or Reiger but would need rear suspension reinforcement and an invoice that would leave me divorced. Anyone have the Tein Flex Z a go on the GR Yaris? No track work, solely spirited drives on the kindergarten run.

I had Flex A with hydraulic bumpstops on my ex GT86. The bumpstops weren't the best but still could run my car over speedbumps at speeds that were totally contrary to the lowered nature of my then car.

And that's where the issue lies, they are in essence lowering coilovers, the height adjustment comes from adjusting the damper length but what doesn't adjust is the damper stroke, which I suspect is very short also on the Flex Z you're looking at - look it up. It was on the GT86 and I had to go custom spring length route to get a decent bump stroke without having the springs binding from too much preload. Out of box they sucked and bottomed out on tiny speedbumps.

I suggest looking for dampers with a decent stroke if you expect any performance on bumpy roads, i.e. amateur rally run....

What is it you're aiming to change/improve?

Thanks for the heads up on Teins. Basically I want some damping control. I live in rural Estonia and roads can vary from ultra smooth tarmac to patchy and bumpy as hell. OEM suspension has been incredible but just looking at the next step up. These rural roads are my place for spirited driving. Lowering the car is not on my radar.

Sounds like you are looking for similar thinks like me before, never got to it as I didn't find obvious go-to options.

I had two routes:
Slightly harder but OEM length springs that increase height a little and by definition soften the quite harsh rebound damping on the mk1. Need to find someone willing to make them...

Protlum. They have a budget rally set which I was saving up for, some cost but also a significant upgrade. Do a search.

Legend, thanks for the heads up.

I do, I have them in Wiborg-Engineering spec and I'm very happy with them
@GottGry How did they tolerate scandi winter? I got now hooked into track driving and planning to upgrade suspension. Interested also hearing what spring ratios did you took?

my current options are
- kw v3 - likely best compromise for street and track, but tad too soft for track, assuming its 5kg front and 4kg rear but maybe adjusting low compression helps in dialing the leaning out from GR.
- HKS Hipermax S - can maintain the stock ride height, spring ratio 7kg front 6kg rear (would be likely good sweetspot for track/road
- MCA Reds - best for track use as you can order them with custom spring ratios but unsure how they tolderate scandi weather as I also use car in winter.

Any recommendations to what way to go? Currently I'm maybe up for either kw or MCA. kw will still be upgrade to stock spring - it won't be fastest setup for track but that's life - car is not full bone track car anyways.

SAMSONAS have a really interesting gravel and Tarmac set-up with lots of travel.
Even the though quite expensive, if I had known this, iwould have opted for a set of SAMSONAS instead of the Tractive. Not saying the Tractive aren't good, on the contrary, but just lacking some travel, about the same as the OEM suspension does.

Edit : with the link : https://samsonas.com/dampers

looks nice but over my budget range. Would go to Bigem if was spending that much money.
