Hello all,
I'm currently in a rather spectacular Caterham but looking to move into a GR. I love my Caterham but I'm wanting a fun car that is a little more usable and approachable. Unfortunately, my wife just doesn't get on with it and some tiny rear seats for my two youngest children would be fun. I'm still not 100% sure of which GR I want. I love the lines of the GR86 but I do miss not having a hot hatch and the GR Yaris is meant to be pinnacle hot hatch fun.

I realise that Caterham, Lotus and GR owners seem to be a similar bunch and move between these brands quite freely. If you have a decent GR and want to return to the Caterham fold then send me a message. I have a very special limited edition Superlight twenty with the 310r upgrade. It is astonishingly fun on the right road. I know I will miss it when it is gone and I expect I will find myself back in one in the future.

Thanks, Jack

Welcome Jack,

SL20 is a very nice model in the range.

Re the GR’s, best thing to do is get a drive in them, appreciate that is not as easy. Owners on here have moved between GR models for varying reasons, it really is a case of what ticks the boxes for you right now.

Having Elise’s and various RWD’s and AWD cars I personally found that RWD was more fun/rewording more of the time especially when not pushing on, that and a NA engine, size and style of the GR86 made my mind up.

You will obviously feel the weight difference in terms of the inertia, with near anything that has four wheels, but was surprised with how the GR86 ‘felt’ when threading it down a country road.

Good luck in your search!
