I do wonder how much influence Toyota had on the final order.
No disputing the mk2 is faster than the original, but the fact that the ‘halo’ GRMN was so much faster than the later cars which share much of its benefits, plus have more power, was a little unusual.
It all seemed to fit just a little too nicely in their declared heirarchy, a bit like Porsche and their perfectly distributed acceleration times between different 718 and 911 models.
Also, the fact that only one could crack 5s 0-62 on a downhill slope was a little odd.
Now, where’s me tinfoil hat?

I'll stick with my modified Mk1 as the difference is too small for the average driver IMO

I'd love the GRMN too.
BUT, if you add mechanical diff's, better suspension and bucket seats and voilá, you have the GRMN spec more or less.
Of course gear ratios are slightly different too but don't think it will be much difference with torque engine such as GR engine is.
So its not so difficult make over for mk1 - really.
just did little drifts on wet tarmac with mk1 and cannot blame it would be a bad car. quite the opposite - close to sweetspot. Not measuring lap times here.

Keep in the mind the GRMN comes with wider track focused tires while all the others don't. These type of tires alone will already make any car significantly faster.I do wonder how much influence Toyota had on the final order.

Hats off to the Toyota driver. Done his job perfectly to keep the natural order!
Would've been a real talking point if there was some sort of upset.
However it's possible he gave 100% on each car and that's just how it is.
But IMO he could of launched them all more aggressively .

This was an enjoyable vid, I had no clue there were so many versions already (GR86 owner)!
I would love to try a GRY one day to see what they are like, I bet they are good fun.
