I totally get why some prefer a decent auto box. For me, rowing up and down in a rewarding box is half the fun of driving.

Whenever I felt the need for a little more engagement with my previous DCT gearbox, I’d flick it into ‘M’ and get to manage the changes myself with a nudge forward or backward on the stick; this often made for some amusing pops, bangs and gurgles on the downshifts. No need to use my achey left foot either. For sure a MT gearbox in a sports car is becoming rarer, another decade down the line and they’ll probably be no more. For those that prefer them, get one whilst you can
