This guy put up a very in-depth video on the CAE shifter a few days ago. It seems to be the best quality shifter you can get for these cars. I really fancy something like this, but they are expensive basically £1k depending on the spec you order and quite a faff to install.
The video is detailed with good-quality and very detailed voice-over. I watched the whole thing, and it's 35 mins long!

After setting up the shifter he basically says that you need to upgrade the transmission ans diff bushings to allow it to work properly, and this makes sense when he explains it, but it pushes me further towards the limits of what I'd be comfortable doing on my driveway.

Ive always wanted one of these, its sat on my wish list. Expensive and major faff to fit, but very cool. After watching that video, it's still gonna sit on my wish list😅

Cool find. I was on edge of ordering it a few weeks ago. Than I was thinking about RTD one. Ended up ordering Mtec shifter springs and TRD SS for better livability in every day use.

I bet that's lovely to use... but yeah, too expensive and too much work for me. Plus not quite OEM looking enough.

I can vouch for tightening up the transmission mounts though. He used a Whiteline insert and Perrin bolt. I opted for the TRD mount which is just a lot thicker than stock but still rubber. Same upgrade I did to my GT86 (same part, even). Really improves shift feel, barely any increase in NVH.

The MTEC shift spring were another brilliant mod for the GT86, are they the same part in the new gen? I feel like the GR shift is a bit better but I'd still fit, but I remember them being a pain to install.

Honestly I thought at first that I don't need them but I've had ocassional misshifts while going 3->2 si I've decided to test them on new gen. I think that PN is new (the're labeled as 2022+ MSGR86) but I can't confirm if the part itself is new too. I already did STI trans mount with Whiteline rear shifter bushing as well some time ago, Whiteline diff inserts are going in too soon. I assume you're located in UK so you should be able to get them from Tunning Developments If you'd like to try them yourself ;)

That was the single best mod I did for the GT86, in my opinion it was one of those zero compromise changes, and the shift felt fantastic afterwards. I agree the GR shift sits in the middle between the GT86 stock and GT86 with MTEC springs.
