What’s the chances? Popped into my local performance specialist garage to book in a run-in oil change and a geometry set-up. Nice brake upgrades/spacers on the Matt wrapped white car.

Oh boy my OCD has gone into overdrive.

Brembo front, Blitz rears. That's bizarre. I know Blitz fronts can be had from Fensport at about £2.2k. I would like the rears to match with them but never seen them here. Guess I need to go digging

Blitz Rears (Almost £1200 plus postage)

Blitz Fronts (£2.2k at Fensport)

I have always thought that a nice set of Calipers matched with a nice set of wheels really help set a car off.
Not complaining, , but the the stock brakes really do let it down a little🙈
The cost to replace/upgrade is a little eye watering however, or is it just me being a bit tight😉🤣

I'll be changing my stock calipers eventually. Not because of performance, even if more would be nice but mine are tarnishing already and it's not good.

Exactly, they start to let the look of the car down.
I intent to pay a local body shop a visit, to see if they will paint them, so at least they will clean up easily🤣

For when it arrives, I’ve already got mine ‘pencilled in’ to have the OEM calipers painted bright yellow and a GR logo applied. £240 all in.
Okay, so they ain’t the best looking calipers but, I liken it to a fat lass at a local Disco - Go bright, go loud and you’ll be beating them off with a stick at 2am…. Ooooft, that’s opened some memory doors that I’d rather have kept closed!

I meant to ask at the time as to why the mix odf Bliz and Brembo. Will find out when I take mine in for its oil change/geo at the end of the month (y)

Just called into local body shop, to see if they would be interested in painting my Calipers.
As with all good body shops, they are stacked out with work, and not main stream stuff, they do a lot of classic/race stuff. Knew exactly what the car was as soon as it pulled in, and was keen to look at it👍
Yes, would do them, but may have to wait. Take Calipers off, blast them in cabinate, prime, paint and lacquer. Have gone for red (Silver car).
He is going to let me have a price in a few days time.
Don’t think it’s going to be cheap, but a nice set of Calipers sat in nice wheels, really will enhance the looks of the car👍
I hate waiting, but………….I’m sure it will be worth it👍

I cobbled together a few 'artistic impressions' of the OEM calipers painted in different colours to help me make that very same decision. The Red one at the top of the montage are a real-world example - the photo is of a GR Forum member's actual vehicle, the rest were altered digitally to give me an idea.. I'm leaning more towards Blue than the Yellow now I think.

I would probably go for black, certain don't want to be drawing attention to little cast floating calipers, brings me back to my 1.2 Corsa days :ROFLMAO:

For the most part the general population don’t take any notice of caliper type, save for the colour. The £240 for a professional respray of the OEM units is easier found than £2K for some Brembos I reckon. 😉

You are absolutely right, however this is is where man maths comes in....

Wait to knacker out discs and pads,£250 for replacements, £240 for caliper paint, near enough 50% of the cost of a godspeed brembo BBK, good enough 🍻 (y)

I can sort of take the blame for half of the reason why the matte white GR in the OP has different front to rear brakes. The owner is a good friend of mine, and he bought the front brakes based on my recomendation (also as I wanted to know what they were like).

His OCD kicked in, and he needed to order rears as he wasn't happy with how it looked with stock rears.

The front kit is the Godspeed kit, around £1100 for the full kit, and one I plan on buying myself. The review from the owner of that car seems positive so far, though I don't think that car has done much more than around 250 miles, so take that with a pinch of salt.

I guess they bolt on without fettling? - I can only see the GT86 kit, but guess the brakes/rim clearance are the same?

They do look good.

Straight bolt on I understand mate, both front and back.

I did exactly the same when my daily needed brakes doing, waited until the discs and pads were shot, and then got some used OEM Brembo calipers for the same price as new discs and pads.

Justified it to myself that way, and saved a load of unsprung weight in the process
