interesting... The thing is the MY24 is entering production very soon and the MY24 has the Eyesight for all variants which complies with the GSR2.

My bet is that the GR86 will continue on sale even after 2024. There is no real argument to not continue the import to the European market. The GR86 cost twice as much here as it does in the domestic JP market. Toyota would be crazy not to continue to sell it.

I think there's more to it than just a front-facing camera.

I have a feeling there were also some things such as bonnet to engine clearance that it would fall foul of without things like pyrotechnic rams to increase distance and change angle for pedestrian impacts.

Either way if the regs result in a load of needless tech, bloat, weight gain and reduction in the purity of what is a more old school driving experience I wouldn’t be interested in buying one even if they were to contine being sold in the U.K. My daily driver, a company BMW deciding to throw the anchor out of the window at the merest sniff of a kerbside wheelie bin is enough to convince me of that!
