GR86 Anyone managed to get any insurance quotes for the GR86?

Insurance, wow

£570 for me.

That's at 34, 15 yrs ncd, 16 yr driving. Nothing else to note. My Fiesta ST is £350 ish.

Anyone had high quotes come through like that on comparison sites and found a decent quote else where?

Not a problem just a bit annoying
My quote from Toyota - £805.00!!

That's at erm 54, 30 yes NCD, 36 yes driving
My daily driver Jaguar XE is £280ish

Went on comparison site paid £310 but that's probably because I'm an old codger!
Strangely my current insurer's for the Jag wouldn't quote for the GR definitely not "oh yes"☹️

Toyota insurance was £1500 for me at 42 with 21 years NCD!
Ive added it to my existing multicar at admiral for £37 until renewal which is April.

Normally a new car to the policy holder has a higher first year insurance as the risk is greater of accident when someone isnt as familiar with a new car especially a sports car. year 2 should reduce if you dont have a claim and the rest of the GR86 owners dont crash them all! :)

Think I'll have to shop around - currently with esure, who wouldn't even quote over the phone without a reg. number (?) and an online quote is £480 (55 years, home owner, full no-claims), but the killer is the excess of £500 compulsory!

Given the details to the broker I use to insure my motorhome to see what they can come up with 🤞

lots more companies showing now but the prices haven't started to drop

Also a reminder that if anyone is with Churchill, they won't insure the GR86 so you'll have to cancel your policy with them and find an alternative.
Or at last they wouldn't insure me on the 86 (I'm guessing due to location?)

I've noticed that, it is odd that so many companies still don't offer to insure it. Fingers crossed this changes in a year.

Admiral insured mine for £470, I'm 34.... 3 years no claims (Was involved in a non-fault accident, last year - so they knocked my no claims down from 13 years - 3) I thought my insurance was going be sky high... but seems mine is cheaper than some.

It's weird eh? Maybe they look at history of your cars too... I've always had 300-500 hp cars etc. I know it's also based on area, affluent areas, less crime etc... all impacts price. Who knows. Sometimes they just put their hand into a hand and hey presto...

I should say though, that's on Admiral Multicar with 4 total cars.

I went with Admiral, got a quote for £389. I'm 44 and have 18 years no claims discount. Interestingly my quote went down when i added my wife to the policy as a named driver. For comparison, my GT86 was £260 a year to insure.

Well AIB (who are brokers) came back with a price of £1,218.15, so I guess I won't be using them !!
<EDIT> Compare the Market, best price with protected no-claims £450 and I live in a very safe rural area

If anyone tries a quote from NFU Mutual (as seen on TV) they don't have the car on their system as anything other than 'Auto' or 'Semi-Auto'. The advisor talking to their underwriters about manual g/b puts the premium up another £50 (it was expensive anyway!)

GR86 isn't on the dropdown list with Churchill and Direct Line (same company), when you don't have the reg yet.

Updated by Admiral insurance with my mods, added a whole £10!

Some I had to select very general catgories but happy enough it's covered and gives me some room moving forward.

I did exhaust/manifold aftermarket, interior changes, exterior decorative changes to cover me.

Yeah the negative with Admiral is that all mods aren't covered.

Ie in the event of a total loss - rip exhaust and anything else...

I'm with them too!

So they'll cover the car with mods but not the modifications themselves?

Yeah you declare all the mods they're just not covered. Ie you'd get the base value of the car back ie £31k + maybe more if you can argue that you can't buy the same version of your car for less than £34k... but I don't know how that'll work.

But anyway, hopefully none of us are ever in this situation! Touch wood!

Just a toe dip given mine isn’t due until May. I didn’t put the wife on which tends to drop the price a bit. Used one of the TUK demo cars as the reg ID.

Excesses are all a bit high, nearer the time I’ll put max excess limits and see what comes back.

A question for those with more than one car AND more than policy. If you have multiple policies with different NCB's which do you declare when getting a quote for a third policy?

If you are opening up a new policy and your NCB has been assigned to others, then it will be 0.
