GR86 Anyone managed to get any insurance quotes for the GR86?

£240/year fully comp with Admiral. Second car in multi car (other a Tesla) 8k/year parked on driveway.
I ended up going with Admiral, as a multi-car addition to one I already have. It's about £330-340 for the year with Gold cover, which includes numerous trips to Europe with the fully comp level, rather than having to add it for each trip at cost (insurance+admin) as I have experienced with our main traveling car. Thanks brexit.

I was not aware of any gold cover in Europe with Admiral, we’ve been with them for years and travel to Europe many, many times a year, they say we don’t even need to tell them when we checked. That was covering the trailer and the race cars on it while being transported that weren’t on the policy.

Yes many companies had got to that stage before brexit - your cover carried on in normal in Europe for up to 90 days and you didn't even need the green card. Now, post brexit, many of the standard policies will continue to give you minimum legal TPFT cover, but check your small print if you want same Fully Comp to just 'happen' without having to ring and incur admin+extra fees.

Admiral basic did not include auto Euro cover at same level, but their Gold and Platinum levels do. Interesting what you have been told, maybe you already have a special policy for all the trailers/race cars?

I have incurred about £200 in extra fees on our main traveling car in the last year - won't be auto renewing that policy with Esure.

So my car is ready to collect tomorrow and I’ve just tried to swap my insurance over… they refuse to insure the car!
Had a look at the comparison sites and the cheapest I can get is £910 =[
My previous MX-5 was £400.

Who have you tried Luke? We are of a similar age, my best quote was Hastings, £354 for their essential policy and £404 direct policy. 33yr 0 NCD (used on another car).

I’m currently with (was with) Churchill. I’ve tried the comparison sites and admiral was the cheapest, which I think is a sister company to Hastings.
I have 8 years no claims but I’m guessing that my postcode is the highest factor in all of this.

I’m going to ring round a few tonight/in the morning and just hope I can bring it down a little. I was expecting £600 ish but my quotes are crazy. This even has a couple of additional drivers on the policy as on my own they were in excess of £1,200.

Oh no what a nightmare.

Sheila’s wheels was cheapest for me. Same age as you, 2 years ncd useable on this car but 13 years driving

I've finally insured mine yesterday with Admiral (gold), 3 years of ncd and £458 total

Ah man that is frustrating

Not great, but I found Chris Knott to match the lowest priced insurance quote (excluding telematics 🤮) for £469 and they agree to some modifications - I didn't dig into it, but they were fine with my PPF.

Snap (almost). They quoted me £470.
My lowest quotes were with Admiral, about £413 - but after an abysmal experience with them a couple of years ago when actually making a claim, I wanted to stay away from them. Paying an extra £57 to avoid them was worth it in my opinion. CK were great with my GT86 and amenable to mods.

The only thing for me was... they will match the other quote EXACTLY, meaning the excess as well. Now I have £900 excess total (£650 compulsory and £250 voluntary) 😭 This was matching an Esure Flex policy.
They offered to protect the excess for something like £180, but I opted out for now...

If you go for Chris Knott and ask them to match another quote they will request a proof (screenshot of a quote).

UMMM - let me think about that, I guess I wont be using RAC insurance - were previously happy to insure me on my M2 for £400 🤣

"Hi Chris, please choose how you would like to pay for your GR86 Car Insurance"... Hmm, well I don't know what's best, a Kidney or my first born?!

Insurance, wow

£570 for me.

That's at 34, 15 yrs ncd, 16 yr driving. Nothing else to note. My Fiesta ST is £350 ish.

Anyone had high quotes come through like that on comparison sites and found a decent quote else where?

Not a problem just a bit annoying

37 and similar no claims, also on a fiesta ST, its never been below the £450 mark for me. Currently paying around £500 each for both cars now, with zero ncd on the gr but because i have it on the ST, i'm classed as a safe driver so get a bit of a discount.. not sure if it'll ever be considerably less than £500 for me.

As we know there are just too many factors to pinpoint why prices vary.

42 and been driving for 25 years with no accidents or points etc. It’s coming out at £500 for me too. My Audi A4 is £300 as a comparison.

For some unfathomable reason the GR86 has been put in the insurance group 50 . For context, a BMW M4 is insurance group 42
