On their website they say:
No need to empty vessel of water between washes but advisable to run 2-3 litres through every 2 weeks in summer
What if you don't?

I have similar results with rain water (filtered to 10 µm) but still dry the car. I might give it a try with the wife's car to see what happens when I sun-dry :p
Well, I sold my GT86 in August last year, and the filter sat unused in my garage (with water in it) since then, until a couple of weeks ago, when I first washed the GR. I also have a little digital water purity meter which I keep next to it, so I took a quick sample and measured it before using as it had sat for so long....it still registered 0ppm (unfiltered value is about 285ppm). And still didn't leave any spots on the car.

You do need to replace the resin every so often, about once a year, depending on use. But the resin is a generic product, and the Raceglaze vessel is really no different to the DI water purifiers used by window cleaning companies, so you can buy it from any sort of vendor who supplies that sort of trade. Think you are maybe looking at about £40-50 a year at most for replacement resin (I haven't exactly calculated the costs, sorry), which probably still pales in comparison to the amount I spend on other cleaning products which don't offer anywhere near as much as a time/effort saving :D

Just to add - I still don't usually leave the car to dry in the sun, it was more a test to see if filtered water would evaporate without leaving marks. Generally I still make sure to wash the car in the evening so it dries in the shade. I don't bother drying the bodywork, but I do sometimes dry the glass with a microfibre to get rid of any smears anyway.

If it's in a spray bottle I doubt it's the real ceramic stuff. They sell ceramic sprays which work very well as well but it's not the same as a full ceramic coating. Do you have a picture of the product by any chance?
Not a great deal of info on the bottle but pictures attached.

I had the 86 done with Toyota's 'Ceramic' coating, its obvious it was a spray on when speaking to them but managed to get it for free for other reasons. Anyway, I washed mine and used snow foam, you could see where the Toyota 'detailer' had done a good and poor job, the bonnet/roof the snow foam slid off quite quickly, then around bumpers and lower areas there were 'triangles' missed where he hadnt applied the spray, reckon 10-15% of the car he'd missed based on this theory!
I've used autofinnesse snow foam ceramic which is decent and also their graphene sealant yesterday so will see what thats like after a few weeks use.

My 86 has Graphene on it and I've just blasted off 95% of the crud from the weekend with no trouble at all. My Yaris however, which had a few coats of C2V3 on it will definitely need a proper wash at the weekend.

Quite surprised how much better it was actually. Impressed so far!

I’ve given mine a coating of Graphene, went on a 130 mile drive on Saturday and it’s now filthy so looking forward to see how easily it cleans off.

I've had slightly mixed experience with Gtechniq, some of the stuff is absolutely amazing, others I feel is not the best for the price, not tried C2V3 but in all fairness for a quick wash I love Gyeon Wet Coat, spray on, rinse off, water beads for weeks and shine is good too. Amazing low effort stuff.

+1 for Wet Coat. It's just so good as a quick top up when rinsing the car. My wheels get a quick spray every wash.

I'd second @SJR202 advice, buying a DI Water filter is a much better option than using a blower, as you basically don't need to worry about drying the car at all, even on the hottest of days.

However you might still get the odd drips down the side of the car, from the likes of the mirrors or door handles, which is where a blower would help.

If your looking to dry the whole car using a blower you'll want the most powerful blower you can find, which you want a filter on.
The small blowers only tend to be good for the details rather than large panels.

I bought one of these for computer cleaning: https://www.itdusters.com/product/xpert/ (it's excellent for that) and have used it on the car several times, and it's fine for the wheels, mirrors & door handles, etc. However for the bonnet, roof, etc it doesn't have enough force or cover a large enough area to make it efficient.

I've also used one of these leaf blowers: https://uk.worx.com/compact-brushle...-leafjet-20v-with-battery-and-charger-wg543e/, that was the same as the computer duster, didn't have the power to clean the larger body panels effectively.

I will say the battery powered option is much better than the cable though, as you need to constantly work around the short power cable.

If I didn't have the DI filter, I'd have probably bought one of these. Whilst they are cabled they have a long enough hose to reach around the entire car, but still doesn't offer the flexibility of a battery option:

I've had a DI vessel for years but stopped using it

The cost of resin isn't worth it for me. I only bought the DI vessel because I had a Megane 3 RS with black wheels at the time and the calcium deposits on the wheels used to drive me nuts. Naturally I'm looking at the GR86 and wondering how I'll deal with the black wheels

I think the air dryer would be a better option, it'll allow you to remove any water build up around gaps, wheels, mirrors etc.

Anyone had a chance to machine polish yet?

I've various Menzerna polishes to try and Lake Country pads so I'll be able to test and see what works best

Someone said the toyota paint was soft?

Ceramic wise I'm going Gyeon MOHS topped with Can Coat. I think it'll be a mistake, having 2nd thoughts and might swap with CQUK which I've been using for many years, curing requirements for Gyeon products isn't really suitable for the UK outdoors.

I'll probably want to wax during summer (which isn't an issue but stripping it back for winter without killing the ceranic will be). For the winter I think the Gyeon products will be a real pain to apply.

I'll likely swap that can coat for some sort of QD, like the Gyeon ceramic detailer.

Still looking for drying solution (hoping I had one already as it’s sunny outside), found a water filter that’s much cheaper for the same purpose.
Thoughts?

That does look a more compact and potentially cheaper alternative. Be interested in knowing how many washes you get out of the filter before replacement is needed. You can buy the resin for the larger 'tanks' in build for much cheaper than the main seller (race glaze) so depending how many washes this filter can do it might not work out cheaper in the long run. but its more compact and i like the way it can be fixed to a wall.

The only thing cheaper will be the initial outlay. The cost of replenishing resin will work out the same, as the size of the vessel only determines how frequently you change it and as with most things, you get better value with you buy in bulk.

I'm avoiding buying a filter with disposable resin, its far too expensive simply to avoid drying a car. A hydrophobic coating and good rinsing/sheeting technique means you will only have to dab a towel in a few areas to dry a car.

Recently replaced my resin in the 11litre DI. Its lasted a year and that's included washing all windows several times (including a conservatory) and a lot of car & motorbike washing. Cost of refill was £45 with half a 5kg bag left over. Its a brilliant thing to have.

Yes please share. MB115 was about £75 a bag last time I used it, now at £95 a bag (Wow!)

Still, sooner have an air dryer to blow out the wheels and shuts. Mine arrives today but I had a metroblaster/vac thing years ago. Excellent product.

10 Litre bag comes as 2 x 5 litres.

If you send them a chat message they will give you a 10% discount code to.
I second these guys, I paid £85 for 25L last April though that seems to be £115 for the same bag now! However I've filled my raceglaze cannister up at the time and its still going and Im a wash-a-holic with my cars! Theres probably still about 15-20L left in the bag so Im good for another few years hopefully (as long as I dont keep washing the 86 every week like I am now :))

Has anyone else tried a Sam's detailing drying towel - it's a revelation and dries a whole car without wringing and quick.

Looks good.

But why oh why is it called the 'TIKTOK' drying towel?

Do you have to film yourself using it whilst doing a stupid f**king dance to horrible ear-bleed inducing 'music'?

It could be the finest car care product ever made but I'd never buy one for that reason. I don't expect them to care, nor any of you lot for that matter.

Yes it's been one of those days...

I don't really care what it's called. It just works very well
