GR Yaris Akio has more up his sleeve

I’m firmly in the camp that believes Toyota is losing money on each GRY. To me that means it’s very unlikely it will be another evolution of the Yaris, or it’s going to be astronomically priced even if it’s not limited in number.

Would love to be proven wrong.

Toyota sells a car every 3 seconds (on average, ish).

I don't think they're too worried about breaking even, or even making a slight loss on their halo cars.

Currently Toyota Europe have a 3 tier process on GR and that is Yaris/86/Supra so no other GR’s going to be coming to the UK, plus Toyota have put a target on all of Europe that by 2024 22% of sales must be FULL ELECTRIC 🤷‍♂️🤯.

There are however some rumours within Toyota networks that 150 GR Corolla’s on a lottery type sale might come to the UK🤞🤞🙏

They also said that every car in the Toyota range will be at least partially electric by 2030. Except GR models.

Currently they only have one GR for sale and it's the Supra.

The only way is up.

Is the GR86 sold out forever? I thought it was just allocations were done for now, I can't see them just making however few of them they did?

In Europe it is due to crash reg changes in a year.
How does that work exactly, I'm not that familiar with regulations, but didn't they say that GR Yaris won't get crash tested as there will be so few of them available? So why are they crash testing the new GR86 which there will be even less of than Yaris' in Europe?

I can give specifics but the Yaris shape likely meets those standards. I suspect it’s something like the low bonnet causing the issues but that’s sticking a finger in the air.

Oh gottcha, that would make sense then. Such a shame…
