Yep, FOV, camera height, reference points (interior or parts of the car), camera angle down or up all can have a massive influence on the on-screen speed perception!Watched this last night, quite wild / lots of pushing from the tyres throughout the lap. Also interesting how your perception of speed varied depending on the camera’s FOV (small dash vs main interior picture, and how the main interior shot shows the elevation changes a bit better).
Well, unless a driver clones itself, you just made fair comparison impossibleUnless they’re testing all 3 cars together the timings are kind of irrelevant. I like the sport auto reviews and tests but the conditions of the will vary so much that it can impact lap times even from one lap to the next.
I was getting fuel at ED earlier this year tall guy in race suit and as he walked off I was like ah it’s Christian. Would have liked a chat, maybe next time.Well, unless a driver clones itself, you just made fair comparison impossible
Gebhardt may look very nervous, but he is very consistent and lap times tend to be within expectation. What I do see as a limitation is that his driving style may work better with some cars and less with others, and that may give a skewed impression on how car models compare. However you do it, there are always limitations. Of course, having a team of 10 of the most consistent drivers with different driving styles, testing 10 cars at the same time and swapping over may get you statistically closer to the absolute truth at great cost, but then one can start wonder, does such accuracy actually matter when most of us never will be anywhere near that place at that pace...
PS: my 5 N is 30s faster with Gebhardt, I don't see everyone here abandoning their GRY based on that![]()
