Been a biker since’81 and particularly out of town, most other bikers give you a nod as you pass.

Have been wondering since we got our GR - will other GR/GT owners give a wave - but we’ve still never passed one.

Today we passed an MX5–RF and the driver gave us a wave and we waved back.

We then wondered if he thought we were in an RF, or whether he knew it was a GR, or if he and his partner were now having the same discussion we were!!!

Is there an etiquette here or can we wave at all little Japanese sports cars ?!

I was chatting with Ms Fox about this very thing today, after receiving a cheery wave when out and about by a chap in a Mazda RX-8.

We did discuss this briefly here ages ago, but this was before we even had our cars so ripe for fresh consideration I would say.

I'm generally a waver (initiator or responder), but following a previous unnerving experience I would urge some caution.

Not had the chance yet - but it will be a big wave 👋 or thumbs up 👍🏻 or flash 💡or all of the above!

I was doubled-flashed (ooooh!) for the first time yesterday by someone driving a dark blue ‘86.

(Between Bathgate and Whitburn, if the owner should read this)
Seeing another was too exciting for a single flash.
(Bonus: it made the Fiat ahead speed up).

First time I’ve met another on the road. Looked great in white.

I'm a flasher...so to speak. I've had Type R's for many years and will always flash another one in appreciation.

I had a Porsche Cayman for about 4 years and found fellow Cayman and Boxster owners would flash back, but not the snooty 911 owners. Lol.

Jap car drivers are much more clued up I find.

I usually go for a wave or a thumbs up. The thing is, I'm often in my van at the time so it might cause more confusion than anything else, but at least it means people don't then try to race me :ROFLMAO:

I find that certain car people of my generation respond quite well to the waving of a rolled up bank note, fast and the furious style when you pull up next to them at the lights. Warning: There's a fine line between a funny joke and people thinking you're kerb-crawling here - use it selectively!
Unfortunately I rarely carry cash anymore so I haven't done this for a while. Maybe ill have to get some out specifically.

I wave or nod at any car I find interesting, just as I do meeting anyone on the street. Very unswedish I know and more often then not I don't get a response but just keep at it as it makes my day (in part at least) to get a smile or wave back.

Same, anything classic usually I give a wave to and usually get a enthusiastic response. As a MX5'er (also) I find that MX5 owners tend to be rather partial to a wave.
