Guessing this has been posted but came up on my feed just now. brake I'd be interested in and it also mentions modified throttle properties.

Additional safety equipment settings, improved driving performance and special RZ “40th Anniversary Limited”
TOYOTA GAZOO Racing (hereinafter, TGR) has slightly improved the GR86, including additional safety equipment settings, improved driving performance, and will accept orders at Toyota vehicle stores nationwide starting September 22nd, and will be on sale on November 1st.
Also, to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the birth of AE86, the grandchild of GR86, and to thank many sports car fans for their patronage, we will be selling the GR86 special spec car RZ“40th Anniversary Limited” for a limited period of time and in limited quantity. Based on the RZ grade, the exterior is limited to white or red exterior colors, with special decals reminiscent of AE86's red x black x white x black two-tone, and the interior is specially equipped with special logos and markings that make the interior feel the history of AE86. In addition, we will also specially equipped with brembo ventilated disc brakes and SACHS (ZF) absorber.
The GR86 special specification car RZ“40th Anniversary Limited” will be accepting lottery reservations through GR Garage nationwide for a limited period from September 25th to October 9th. Negotiations will begin on October 25th, and a limited amount of 200 vehicles are planned to be sold by February 2024.
Now, the GR86 special spec car RZ “40th Anniversary Limited” will be exhibited at the TGR booth of the "FUJI 86/BRZ STYLE 2023" held at Fuji Speedway (Shizuoka) on September 24th.

Saw news of this when it was called the Trueno edition for the US market. Nice catch about the throttle response - in the Trueno news they said the performance parts would be available to retrofit to pre-2024 cars, so there's hope both they, and the throttle calibration (especially if that's just software), might make it over here.
 
Improved throttle mapping would be nice, but I can't see how it's easily going to be retrofitted to earlier vehicles.
The brakes and dampers I guess we can just get hold of and swap out ourselves. But wouldn't an improved throttle/fuel map require going to the dealer for an ECU upgrade?

Given that most Toyota dealers don't seem to even be able to manage programming the windows and doors to function correctly on the fob, I don't really hold much hope of expecting them to handle an ECU upgrade.

Mind you, lots of clever people with the first gen worked out how to get the improved vehicle stability system from the facelift retrofitted to earlier models just by switching the ABS unit, so I live in hope someone works it out.
 
*If* the potentiometer on the throttle has enough range to capture movement of the pedal at least part way to the floor then it's just software, and an easy one at that - no changes to fuelling etc. needed, you just send a different set of values for the torque demand at a given throttle travel. From that point on the existing work to translate that torque demand into fuelling and ignition timing etc. given the load and RPM is exactly the same as before, you just get a more easily controllable throttle pedal.

I suspect the range is already there, as apparently the automatic transmission has a gentler throttle curve when in normal mode.

We might be talking at crossed purposes. I was thinking more of the slightly jerky throttle from low revs that these cars suffer from, rather than the top-heavy range of motion in the pedal. I figured it might be caused by the fuel mapping, or the switching between direct/port injection or something.

My point stands either way though; if it's a software update, I doubt it would be something offered as a matter of course, and it wouldn't be a recall. So we'd be left to our own devices if we wanted to obtain it, but it's not like the brakes/dampers that you can just buy and fit yourself. If I walked into my Toyota dealer and said "Hello, I'd like you to update the throttle map on my GR86 to use the latest version from the 40th Edition please :)" I imagine they would just stare at me blankly.

Ah, yes, got you - agreed, that's definitely fuelling - I've also noticed an especially high idle when the car is cold (probably warming up cat or something for emissions) which causes the car to push forwards at low speeds
