I used to own a red GT86 which was hands-down the best car I have ever owned. After five years of ownership I decided to make some drastic life changes and sold it to fund new ventures. It was just a car but not a day went by where I didn't think about it and I found myself missing it. I was initially looking to get another but ended up pulling the trigger on a '22 GR86 with 4000 miles on the clock.

The GT86 in question:

I'd like to say, I'm not one for naming inanimate objects but I've jokingly dubbed this car "Betty" as it was a nickname of mine in school (don't ask) and after the villain of one of my favourite stupid movies as a kid, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist (obvious Ram Jam reference nonwithstanding).

I drove the car stock for a while before adding some FX3D mudguards. I then added the TRD GR gearknob and "rear aero stabilizer" as I had both on my previous GT86 and found the rear window strip great for preventing random leaves and debris going down the top of the boot lid:

The lack of exhaust note was beginning to bother me so I invested next in a HKS Legamax Premium axleback:

Next I picked up an ideal registration (FA24 BOXER):

But after seeing some pics of other owners with JDM front plinths and shortened plates I felt that the front end looked much cleaner so I took the plunge and grabbed one myself. The logic? "Your No. 1 Boxer" (not you're... I'm not that egotistical :P ):

Soon after a front and rear dashcam followed. Then after missing the growl I used to get from the HKS Spec L ii on my old GT86 so I contacted Ctec in Rotherham and booked in for a new catback alongwith a Superpro gearbox insert, Whiteline differential bushings and Eibach camber bolts:

Safe to say I'd gotten the modding bug again and have since added lots of little bits such as an Axis Parts keyhole cover, Lexus ignition button, some TOM'S accessories and a REAL steering wheel:

After selling my Enkei RPF1s to a lovely chap, I actually ended up buying them back from him after he parted with his GR86. They're still in great nick although one is showing a tiny bit of bubbling. If anything it'll give me an excuse to get them refinished in another colour in the future:

Most recently I installed a TRD GR intake. This improved the sound of the car and gave it a touch more grunt around 3k and towards the top end:

The wheels will be going on sometime in the next few weeks with a set of Rally Armor mudflaps as the rural roads in my area tend to get plastered in mud and manure and the FX3D mudguards have warped and twisted considerably in less than a year. After that I'll be getting a paint correction, polish and wax coating ready for the coming summer.

As it stands, this is the current list of mods and bits with more to come in the future:

Axis Parts Carbon Fuel Cap
Axis Parts Keyhole Cover
C-Tec GPF-Back Exhaust
Dauntless OBD2 Dongle
Driven Cubby Inserts
Eibach Camber Bolts
Infotainment Screen Protector
Kungkic Negative Terminal Battery Cover
Lexus Ignition Button
Maxpider 3D All-weather floor mats
REAL Steering Wheel
Superpro Gearbox Insert
TOM'S Handbrake Lever
TOM'S Leather Seatbelt Pads
TOM'S Steering Wheel Lock
Toyota GR86 Rubber Bootliner
TRD GR Gear Knob
TRD GR Oil Cap
TRD GR Performance Intake
TRD GR Rear Aero Stabaliser
TRD GR Sun Shade
Viofo A229 Pro Dashcam F+R With Hachi Electronics ASC Adapter
