I’m sure most of you are aware, but 1/18 models of the GRY are now being released. Otto released their resin model for pre-order today; it’s probably the one to get at €69.90. 3000 copies available and currently limited to the pearl white.

Make Up in Japan also have a resin model available in all 4 colours. It’s ¥39600 and can be ordered through shipping proxies such as FromJapan and Buyee.

Toyota themselves sell a Pro Edition resin model that can be customised to the owners individual spec. However both this and the Make Up (which might be the same) are JDM-spec representations. Not been able to get a hold of this for a reasonable amount; they are sold exclusively through GR dealerships in Japan and eBay resellers are advertising them for over twice the ¥44000 retail price.

Happy hunting!

Do you have a link to the Otto model please? I couldn't see it on their web site, and a search for Yaris returned nothing.

Oh never mind, I've found the Club Otto thing now. What a palaver, is France still in the 1970s?!

Yeah, palaver is defo the right term there... stone age website, at least it supports paypal though!

I had to register (fair enough, but I'm not sure I trust something so archaic to be secure), then download a PDF and fill it in and email or print it and post it! It allows you to select a payment method, but no way to fill in the payment details. Again, I'm not sure I'd trust them with that anyway. If I wasn't so keen to get hold of this model, I'd have sacked the idea off, TBH.

Hmm, I didn't have to download a PDF or anything, I just put it in the basket and went to the checkout! Then chose paypal options. I'll probably remove details etc later on, iirc GDPR means I think they should do it if asked anyway, and to me since they don't actually have card details it's sorta fine.

I got a KZ order number, am I going to have to wait until 2024 for my model? lul

Yes, you have to go through Club Otto. The website is a bit archaic but their models are lovely. I have a few of their representations of my 205s on display in the man cave.

Thanks for the heads up-- they haven't posted about its availability on their FB page.

I've got a couple of Otto models as well-- a Renault Avantime (sadly, not in the same color as my 1:1 Avantime) and Clio V6. They're both quite nice, though the Avantime suffers because they used something like a heavy film for the glass, and so it flattens out instead of matching the contours of the real glass. No such problem on the Clio V6, though.

Ordered too :)

They are great! I have the Ottomobile 1:18 models of several of my cars – and all in the correct colour except for the Matra and Nissan:
Talbot-Matra Murena
Peugeot 106 GTI
Nissan 300 ZX Twin Turbo
RenaultSport Clio 200 Phase 3
Renault Avantime

and the GRY is in the right colour and spec too

A heads-up for those unfamiliar with their models – unlike some other firms, the resin Ottomobile models have no opening parts.

I have 1:18 models of all the cars I've owned – apart from my Lancia Beta Spider (only 1:43), Dodge Durango III (only 1:30) and my Mini Roadster John Cooper Works (only 1:64 and not in the photo below as I have not assembled it yet):

Not surprised it's LHD, being a French-built model, as I understand it.

My cheapo Tomica 1:61 models are RHD, as you'd expect from Japan.

Ordered, thanks. Why the hell not, especially as it is exactly the same spec as mine.

Order process was a bit clunky but pretty much the same as any other website?

Renault Avantime
Otto didn't offer their Avantime in Vert Scarabee (the dark green), so mine don't match.
Norev did offer their 1:43 Avantime in that green, so at least that one matches.
