Saturday Night Hotel
Anyone who is interested in coming over on the Saturday (22 April) to meet up and have some food and drinks in the evening, a lot of us have booked the hotel at Silverstone. The hotel in MK where we'd planned to stay again had no rooms (Mary and Joseph know the feeling).
Can be booked via booking.com, and probably lots of other sites, that allow free cancellation up until mid-April.

We'll smash 30. I reckon 50 could be on the cards...will we make 30
Honestly I wouldn't recommend going on track at Japfest. It will be full of billies (silly billies who don't know what they are doing). If you don't get a red flag then you get the full time allowance. But it's measured on time, not on how many laps you do. Some will lap quicker than others. That is what causes most of the problem. Thought the sessions were 20 minutes? There is an FAQ, but principally, helmet, covered arms and legs. Wear driving or racing shoes if you have them.As a Japfest virgin who has also booked a whizz around the track (Novice session), can anyone enlighten me on what to expect on the track, do you get a certain amount of laps or you just get say 10 minutes .
I would imagine I need to wear comfortable clothes, sensible driving shoes (I will leave my heels at home) and obviously a spare pair of pants.
All advice welcome
Lauren, really appreciate the advice and how the track experience works. I will be careful and mindful of the billies that will be out on track. Silverstone National has 5 corners. It's frankly rubbish to drive. It's great to race on when you can go four abreast, but you won't be doing that, I hope!
You're welcome. All I can say is just be really careful. There will be plenty that want to show off to the crowds but the trouble is the speed feels a lot less on a wide open track than it does on the road. This tends to manifest itself at corners. I've seen too many people run out of talent in these situations. Enjoy it, but just be really careful and mindful of those around you. If someone is being aggressive, give them a wide berth.Lauren, really appreciate the advice and how the track experience works. I will be careful and mindful of the billies that will be out on track.
