Cancelled my Admiral auto-renewal (not straightforward) @ £366 without b/d cover. Replaced it with same cover but £100 less excess, added Legal cover and added RAC breakdown for £220.
Do they really just make up the numbers?
No snow here - just an early heavy frost.
1pm and 6 degrees and I still managed to find a shaded corner with a thin coating of black ice - luckily only 20mph and rears only slid round about 45 degrees.
I’m assuming traction control fixed it as it was over before I could react !
Went out for a spirited 3 hr mix of B roads, A roads and Motorways today.
Jobs to do, things to drop off, things to pick up.
I bought my GR86 pretending that when the time came, I could use it as a daily driver.
It was wonderful throughout !
Went for a nice run with the A/C full on and had a nice breakfast.
Then popped into LIDL for some dog food and parked way at the back to avoid the door swinging idiots.
Whilst loading the shopping into the boot, we actually had to step aside and move the trolley as a middle aged man “parked”...
Wish I’d booked a stand place just in case - date looked impossible at the time, now it’s free. I didn’t even consider being able to sell it on.
Would have been a nice run out for Lilibet (GR86)| - and the wife.
Got mine from Japan and fitted it myself - used the 3M prep kit and tape that came with it, and drilled the holes as per the patterns. No issues so far.
I read a few threads on the internet with a drill/no drill discussion, and decided on…… drill.
My first car was a 1973 Triumph GT6 a few decades ago - less than half the power but twice as likely (at least) to put you in a hedge or a pirouette.
My second was a Mini and I was invincible.
We’ve all been spoiled for a while I think.
Probably sat in a Toyota dealer for a while, preregistered, as many of them seemed to need “demo” vehicles even though they had all sold out prior to anyone wanting or getting a demo.
Toyota UK should hopefully underwrite it.
I was told 4 weeks grace for the service - past that and you’ve...
I think I've been spoiled by fast-ish cars with lots of safety interventions that (on the whole) keep the car on the road regardless of who is behind the wheel - and their competence.
I got my GR86 to substitute for my ZZR1400PS to stop my wife panicking every time I/we went out. I tend to...
It cost around £170, but with postage and VAT it came in at £275.
Same one is £360 plus delivery from Fensport.

Well I decided I might as well enjoy the anxiety of doing it with the bolts and the 3M as I didn’t trust myself to align it otherwise..
I can’t say it’s the most enjoyable few hours with the car, but I’m glad it’s over - no dramas, but some squeaky bottom moments (especially drilling the first...
I’m worrying about what I’m going to do with my GR86 tomorrow.
Ducktail spoiler has arrived from Japanparts.com - £225 plus £50 custom/VAT/fee stuff - well pleased as it’s the genuine article.
Looking forward to my car looking the way I wanted it to, but not looking forward to drilling holes...
Went out for a spirited drive around the country roads and stopped off for a Chinese lunch.
Raised the rev warning from 5000rpm to 6000rpm (had been meaning to do it for months but could never find it again as I was setting off) and I’m surprised how it’s improved the driving experience.
I’m...
I quite enjoyed the show when I watched it earlier today to be fair.
I remember being so disappointed by the GT86 when I first drove it - great chassis but just didn’t feel powerful enough.
GR86 fixed it for me, so no STI turboing needed here!!!!
Right - that does it.
TRD trunk spoiler just ordered from japanparts.com.
No idea why I've procrastinated for a year. It IS a great improvement.
Cheers fella !
I started mine at 7.30am on Friday at -5C after 3 months off the road - no signs of sluggish starting whatsoever.
Drive to the dealer for the service was certainly interesting!
Drove back three hours later and it was thankfully 2C and sunny.
Was behind a VW ID4 for four or five miles at 35 to...
