GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Thanks a lot tonic! Yes it definitely wouldn't work if I just bolt it on. But I don't think it would be too much work to cut the pan and correct it and make a new oil pickup. Thank you! I did think a few times if I should commercialize on my cooling project. But its not really a plug & play...

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Finally starting to see light at the end of the tunnel. I'm almost ready to start printing the final versions of the ducting of my aux radiator. The front inlet duct is basically 95% finished. I only need to tweak the design of the duct as a 2-piece to fit a mesh inbetween to protect the...

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Finally making an update on this thread. I had a lot of stuff going on with my other cars but still continuing on my auxiliary radiator project. I have recieved all Gen2 parts for the Aux Radiator including all brackets and lines. But i quickly found out that I cant reuse the brackets, as the...

Thank you ! The stock intercooler weighs 3.2 kg while the PWR weighs 5.4 kg. Most of the difference is from the endtanks, the stock one being made out of plastic and the PWR out of cast aluminium. Most aftermarket intercoolers for the GR Yaris that I have seen are somewhere around 7-9 kg.

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Time for a little update. While I have been waiting for the Gen2 Aux Radiator to arrive, I started working on the intercooler setup. I have gotten the PWR Intercooler from Australia, mainly because its not too big unlike most aftermarket intercoolers and its fairly light as well. Now with...

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Thanks a lot I appreciate it ! For sure I have definitely some more interesting stuff coming. I got the Einstar Vega, its my first 3D scanner so I can't compare it against others but so far it does the job really good.

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Well, its been a few months since I made a update about my build. I've been busy with a lot of different stuff including finishing the restoration of my Honda S2000. But I was enjoying some miles in my Yaris the last few months : But now its time to get serious again. The first thing I have...

GR Yaris (Gen 2) Cusco rear LSD vs. Quaife rear LSD

Im pretty sure what youre hearing is supposed to be normal. The Cusco diff most likely has a high preload thats why its so loud. Torsen diffs are known to be quiet but there are also Clutch Plate LSD's with a low preload that are known to quiet (Drexler for example). If the bearing preload...

GR Yaris Oil Cooler Pressure Drop

I only went to the track with the GR Corolla heat exchanger so its difficult to compare, but I had over 135°C oil temperature even on a cold day. On street driving I didn't notice any change.

GR Yaris Oil Cooler Pressure Drop

Yes thats something I did take in consideration as well. The stock coolant lines on the heat exchanger are surprisingly small. It definitely wouldn't be a quick and easy job but I think its better than a air to air oil cooler if done right. No I don't have any other cooling mods yet apart from...

GR Yaris Oil Cooler Pressure Drop

The GR Corolla Heat exchanger does fit the Gen1 Yaris, but the size is marginally larger so it didn't help me alot with cooling. I've been thinking about making a adapter plate and putting a much larger heat exchanger out of a other car but thats still in the plans.

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Thanks a lot ! Yes currently I am only using the Solo 2 as a lap timer, because Aim doesn't support the GRY Ecu but I've thought about connecting it to the Can Bus and write a Programm with the current known Can Bus adresses (Oil Pressure, Oil temp, Tyre temp etc.) Hello Mav, sadly not yet I...

GR Yaris GR Yaris Hybird turbo from GCG Japan

Yes it matters a lot. You have to tune the dwell time to the specific coilpacks you use, otherwise the spark might be too weak or too strong to the point the coils get too hot. Thats only possible to tune with a standalone ecu.

GR Yaris Balance of tuning and durability limits

Yes of course thats correct, every standard driver who drives the car on the street should stick to 0W20 I'm not debating that. I'm talking about extreme cases where its only used on the track. I use my car only for the track and also not in Winter, the only time I drive it on the street is...

GR Yaris Balance of tuning and durability limits

That doesn't mean much to me that Toyota covers the warranty for track use. Just look at the amount of engine failures and denied warranties on the GR86 due to oil starvation. Add the fact that you need an oil cooler and the diff overheats is proof enough the GR Yaris is not a track ready car...

GR Yaris Balance of tuning and durability limits

It would be ideal if someone could get access to the GR Yaris Rally2 manual to see what Oil TGR recommends. Just because Toyota recommends 0w20 for the street car, doesn't mean it transfers to a car that does a lot of tracktime. One example I have is the Renault Clio 4 RS uses 5w40 oil, but...

    GR Yaris HKS bottleneck?

Theres no need to worry. I have a HJS downpipe and a full Whifbitz titanium exhaust with GPF delete and after 1 trackday mine went all blue from the downpipe all the way to the end pipes and my car is still on stock power.

Thanks Geoff ! I will definitely get a second set for the car in the future.

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Thank you ! The part numbers are 8V0 407 811 and 8V0 407 812. They need a bit of trimming to make them fit but nothing too major and so far have been holding well. Yes I will definitely do another dyno test with the current mods, we're currently moving to a new workshop hopefully in about a...

GR Yaris Milan's GR Yaris Track build

Thanks a lot and your point is completely valid. Obviously the lower you go the better is the center of gravity and the less drag the car produces. And as for my application the damper travel is enough, I did test this thoroughly on the street and on the track. For others it might be a problem...
