Finally had some time to try out the previous gen facelift wheels with stock Primacy tires. It changed the car completely in every way. A bit dangerous in the wet and single digit temperature conditions, but I will see.
Took some extra time cleaning the studs with a wire brush and applying...
maybe my ears are just sensitive but hearing the valve ticking/rattling few seconds after sitting for 1+ week is totally normal IMO. It’s just physics, the oil won’t stay in the heads by itself forever.
I usually drive only on the weekends during nice weather so all my cars that I ever had had...
I usually drive my car only on the weekends and I tried to start the car after sitting for a week in similar conditions with and without cranking the engine first.
Without cranking the engine in advance I could always hear the valves clatter on the cold start. When I crank the engine first...
I was running Ravenol... But switched to Motul 8100 ECO-LITE 5W-30. I had great experience with Motul in my other cars and it's priced really good here. Motul also distributes oil to Subaru delaers in the EU.
As long as it is 5W-30, API SP approved and GF-6 you are good to go. Pennzoil is...
So I have finally installed the Remark axle-back and decided to keep it!
It was quite loud, boomy and drony after the initial install. I went for a proper drive to heat up the system and refitted my K&N intake and re-tightened the axle-back. What a difference it made! I would recommend...
2022 model year has ILSAC GF5 recommendation and from the model year 2023 and on it is ILSAC GF6. Both of these standards are already low SAPS in the recommended viscosity ranges anyway. So there's no point pointing out the GPF I believe.
GPF is something to keep in mind for the DIYers, who...
I noticed too that the GR86 and the new BRZ aren't in many systems yet. Or many shops lack latest FW updates.
However, when it comes to alignment, it is fine to use the previous gen template.
The main reason across the board would be to reduce emissions. Thin oil creates less friction and resistance, which helps increasing power output and reducing overall consumption. Automakers will do everything to reduce their fleet emission. Using a thin oil will have a great effect on the fleet...
Remark Axle-back owners!
I finally installed the Remark Axle-back. What I find strange though… I received an additional flange type gasket for between the OEM stock midpipe and the Remark Axle-back… first I thought that it’s a spare gasket for the axleback but the size is actually different and...
I recommend going with 5w-30 if you have not already done so. The 0W-20 is not really beneficial if you don’t live in the polar circle. The 5W-30 helped mitigate the oil consumption for many including me. It may still eat oil in high temperatures and during hard driving, but you don’t need to...
tested the top speed today on the autobahn! It is definitely soft limited. I felt like the car could do much more. I was able to maintain 230 kph even on long steep hills.
Suspension was stable and the car felt absolutely ok at those speeds. The oil temp peaked at about 108c.
same! I received the tracking number yesterday. I'm located in the EU, so shipping usually takes 4 - 5 days, customs clearance might take even longer... So I don't expect to get it installed this week unfortunately...
Can't wait for pics and soundclips!
Looks like you guys in the UK got another cheap axleback option for the GR86. Not sure if this has been mentioned here already?
The Remark Axleback seems to have a better fitment, but I would rather get this just to support a local business? Can’t wait to hear more soundclips...
Finally fitted the K&N intake. I got a decent deal for about 440€ including the VAT and shipping, so why not give it a go? I liked that the K&N intake tube is the same diameter as the stock tube, so no check engine light and no need for a tune. Just fairly easy plug and play install. I was not...
