GR86 Who will be getting an alarm fitted?

To summarise Toyota's response: You can try to force us to pay for an alarm by complaining to either the motoring or financial ombudsman. If you do, we'll invalidate your warranty.

GR86 Red, Lochmaddy North Uist, 30/12

Was it anyone on here, speeding to the ferry on Monday? The thing is, on a small island, you can run, but you can't hide. And everyone will get to know about it. The tale, as told to me: We had a GR86 turn up in the car park for the ferry yesterday, so I showed him which lane to go to...

GR86 New for 2025? Stability control modes.

I remembered something about the auto having a snow setting. It's a minor point and all a bit academic when we can't upgrade from 2022 or 2023 model year. Thankfully we don't have speed limit bongs and lane departure correction that would have to come with it.:)

GR86 New for 2025? Stability control modes.

The Toyota USA video for the 2025 model mentions Sport and Snow modes for stability control, with these buttons below. It seems to be on the new manual models, was it on the UK auto model or is it completely new for 2025?

    GR86 Trickle charging...

@Sonic - a nice tidy install there, with the wires secured. (y) I bent the tab on the positive lead and tucked it under the clamp. It runs under the red cover without cutting.

    GR86 Trickle charging...

My other car, Volvo V40, is occasionally displaying a Low Battery warning. Reading up on it, several sources said do not connect anything directly to the negative battery terminal, either a charger or accessories (lights, amplifier, radio, etc). The Battery Current and Temperature sensor will...

    Toyota's racing divisions explained

An interesting article that explains the history of the racing / motorsport divisions, how they currently sit and how they're coming together under the Gazoo brand. https://www.motortrend.com/features/trd-vs-toyota-gazoo-racing-vs-toyota-racing-whats-the-difference-explained/

GR86 EVO Toyota GR86 Fast Fleet test article

The GR is giving me a problem with my insurance policy miles this year, may have to increase it. Did 2240 miles on a 10 day trip to the Alps, then four days later took it to Pembrokeshire adding another 1000 miles in a week. No concerns with doing long distances, each day was just get in and...

GR86 Focal 2 way component OEM retrofit

That's the kit that inspired my Pioneer rear speakers, after seeing it in @Shoggy 's build.(y) How easy was it to fit? Presumably it was all plug and play once the trim panels were out. I had considered fitting the Audison kit in the front too, but went for the easier option of the Focals.

GR86 Puzu Amp, harness tap, full range rear signal.

Just to round this off, the supplied Puzu harness (Number 7) has wires coloured to the ISO standard. They don't correspond to the Subaru or Toyota colours, but these pictures show what goes where in the plugs.

    GR86 Considering a change...

I'm not sure I could knowingly buy a v8 engine that's had 2 cylinders blocked off to make it a v6. Changing your daily driver could be a solution, instead of the GR. When you daily drive an old school LR Defender, the GR is supremely comfortable, whisper quiet, rocketship fast, modern...

GR86 Puzu Amp, harness tap, full range rear signal.

Hi, as far as I know, it is not possible to bypass the filter and sound EQ settings inside the headunit. The only way to get a full signal to the Rear was to split the Front speaker output and amplify it, all done outside of the headunit. The downside is losing the Front/Rear fader control...

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

RAF Barnham, a very interesting place. (y)

    GR86 Rear Speakers

Yes, it's really only 4 soldered joints, all in the Puzu adapter harness. So there's no risk to the car harness if you're not confident, or take it out and get someone else to do it. As said, I wouldn't do this unless the rear speakers have been upgraded, it's not worth it in that case. (y)

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Managed to fit in 2 crossings of the Brecon Beacons today, including the Black Mountain Road. Why, oh why, does this have a 40 mph speed limit? 🤬 There's good visibility almost everywhere. Sorry, I haven't washed the car since last week's trip.😆

    GR86 Rear Speakers

It's a bit of a shame they were damaged, but good he was honest about it. I've ran the Focal front, Pioneer rears without an amp for 6 months, including a 10day, 2200 mile trip just recently. I got back thinking "it sounds good, I'm not desperate to change anything" The rear speakers lifted the...

    GR86 Rear Speakers

Hi, yes, the mounting position is the same as the GT86. The 'Premium' 3" speakers in the US spec GR use the exact same bracket as the GT86 and they are interchangeable between models. There might possibly be an issue with clearance of the bracket to the trim panel. That depends on the shape of...

GR86 Puzu Amp, harness tap, full range rear signal.

Thanks, I'm very happy with it even on the first try set up. Will tune it a bit, then look at time delays. I'm a convert to the Puzu, the tuning and the extra power in one box are great. Thanks again (y)

GR86 Puzu Amp, harness tap, full range rear signal.

Solder the 4 twisted joints. Heat shrink insulate the 4 soldered joints individually. Push the 4 terminals (white and grey wires) back into the plug, in the correct positions. Re-wrap the harness. I also used zip ties on the ends of the wrap for security. Plug it in, full range sound to both...

GR86 Puzu Amp, harness tap, full range rear signal.

Insulate 2 wires, one of each colour with heat shrink. Then heat shrink 4 wires together to tidy up the loose ends. The staggered cut avoids the need to insulate all 4 individually. I left these wires in the loom just in case I ever want to connect them up at anytime. Cut back the insulation...
