GR Yaris GR Yaris Maintenance / Driveline Oils Change

Videos containing "interesting" music (you have been warned). DIY changes and how transmission & transfer, rear diff and engine oils looked after the first 2500 miles.

GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Please share, if you feel comfortable, which insurers offered you a better deal. Lots of GRYs with A-Plan and I wonder if their name change also means changes to pricing, etc. And many GRYs also getting modifications makes the pool of potential insurers smaller. Unless we're talking about...

Also correct for making the normal-mode one a large push button, ie easier to use in an emergency.

GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Mk2, yes, quite possibly. As for "better", that remains to be seen. And even if it is better, crucially, would it be better value for money (VfM) too or an offer of as nonsensical VfM to most as the GRMN edition? I think the chances of getting an offer of VfM as last time are simalar to...

GR Yaris Geometry Setup West Sussex / Hampshire ?

Depends on what you're looking to do (and achieve), at the front (and in general). If it's adding just a bit of negative camber at the front or even setting it at a bit higher negative setting than the rear, I don't think you need rear bolts. If you're going aggressive at the front, not adding...

GR Yaris Geometry Setup West Sussex / Hampshire ?

AW Motorworks, Essex. Long established and have done a brilliant job on a few GRYs of expert owners I trust. Haven't tried them. TGM Sport in Fleet, Hampshire. With motorsport/racing experience too. They've done Eibach lowering springs on at least one GRY. Haven't tried them; so, I would...

    UK clampdown on loud exhausts

Perhaps something like that would also make it a lot simpler for all of us to know if the modifications we're considering are illegal or not. For example, many don't know that replacing the stock exhaust with an even slightly noisier one is illegal in the UK, as I understand it. Shouldn't...

    GR Yaris Hello there

Good to know it's a quick job, as for the Whiteline kit, Pumaspeed need 3 hours for fitting, as per the Workshop Fitting tab on https://pumaspeed.co.uk/product-Whiteline-Front-Control-Arm---Caster-Bushing---Toyota-Yaris-GR_19783.jsp However, for the Powerflex kit, the Workshop Fitting tab...

GR Yaris POWER STEERING FAILS mid turn on the Nürburgring

That's alarming! Am I missing something? I'm on stock wheels, tyres grippier than stock (but not semis), agrressive street geo and the car trail-brakes just fine on the road; in fact, beautifully. Or do you mean that it does it only when driven really hard on the track?

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

If you were to install one of those caster bushes, would you only ever consider the Whiteline one? Having established that both offer anti-lift, cost aside, any reason why you/one would prefer the Whiteline over the Powerflex one? Thanks

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

For balance, here is my take on your take 🙃 For most, that limit is not easy to reach, though. Far harder to hit the limit on the road in the GRY than in most other cars. Regarding front grip failing, I've felt that, but I've since made great improvements through geo settings. A relatively...

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

I think I get your logic but it leads me to a different conclusion. Changes that I soon don't spot as something out of the ordinary are top of my priority list. If they fit in so naturally to my use of the car, then they were much needed. For example, the steering wheel extender was initially...

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

Thanks for offering, that might be a great idea but I won't pretend I can confirm that your guess is right. I might have to research and educate myself on how such anti-lift kits work, what (and what benefit) a 5mm anti-lift really means, etc. And then I'll probably need to look into @Onehp...

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

The good news is I received a response from Powerflex. Their caster kit will give 5mm anti-lift as the offset at the top of the arm is 30.5mm vs 25.5mm on the original bush. The bad news is I don't understand any of this 😊. So, I still wonder: Does it really offer meaningful anti-lift? Cost...

GR Yaris Caster through anti-lift kits

Fair points, both. Is someone preparing his Black Friday shopping, @Michael Knight ? :) I was wondering myself about the difference between PFF76-902G and PFF76-902GBLK. Powerflex have confirmed that these two are made to the same spec, with both using their 95A durometer material. So while...
