GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Took the car for its first MOT at the weekend, nothing of note apart from the tyres. Then found out that Nakai from RWB was over the road cutting up Porsches 😮

Rubber mats from Japan. Noticed some wear to the carpet below the accelerator pedal where that odd ridge is, and these protect that area.

Not the nost attractive but functional.

Not exactly a 'with my GR86', more of a 'for my GR86' post. Collected my Bola FLE wheels from Skidz in Falkirk where they underwent a further powder coating after I rejected the first one. The first attempt with 'Copper Glitter' (imported from Prismatic Powders in the USA) didn't go well; the colour was thin even after 4 coats with the silver base showing through on sharp edges, as well as looking more like burnt Orange than the Copper effect I wanted and as shown on Prismatic's website. So I cut my losses and went with a simple Gloss Bronze instead. On a positive note, it was Craig at Skidz that asked me to come through because he wasn't happy with how the coating had gone on, he also wore the first powder and import costs from the USA, as well as giving me a discount on the work for my troubles. Excellent customer service as always. Photo to be inserted below once I've unloaded them from the truck… Done:

Did the Thruxton skid pan and Paddock Skill course yesterday.
There was a Jag type F R, a bmw m4 with 500hp and a Lotus Evora GT410.
Managed the fastest lap around the skid pan but never really got the hang of maintaining the drift.
The paddock bit was fun but hard on car.

Does anyone have heard their diff doing a noise like a tac tac tac? It happened whenever I was turning hard and maintained the lock. Today I did some driving in tight ciecles but at a much slower pace and the sound was not there.

Took passenger rides in all cars, difficult to choose between the 3. The jag noise was very nice, the bmw had massive push but a heavy one to slow down. The lotus sounded great but the owner was still getting used to it. The gr86 had by far the best handling.

No, even when cold the diff is quiet.

Are your diff mounts standard?

My old Megane 3 RS diff was clunky as f**k when it was cold. But never made any noise when it was warm.

No, I am using the whiteline inserts for the diff, so not standard.

Under normal use there is no noise, it was only on the skid pan and doing the figure 8s that it started to sound.

Changed back to shorter stock-length studs and new nuts since I've taken spacers off. Ran a set of mishimoto aluminiums for a bit - terrible, binned.

Drivers seat squeaks and creaks pretty badly for some reason. Car is creaking all over!

Ok, I have whiteline inserts on mine, with all 4 fitted it was too noisy and the diff and gearbox made some horrendous noises even when just moving it in and out the garage in a straight line, but with just the rear facing inserts fitted its fine.

Doesn't make a sound on hard lock either.

My drivers seat does the same, but only really when the weather is colder

My car has been a 3rd car since new so it’s rarely been out in the rain and NEVER when there’s salt on the road. But it’s been promoted to a 2nd car now and will need to earn earn its keep.

So yesterday in preparation for the winter it got coated in Bilt Humber in an attempt to keep the affects of the weather to a minimum.

Looking pretty good underneath for a 3 year old car.
