GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I cleaned it, including...... the inside of the rear window.

I'd genuinely rather change brake pads than clean the inside of the rear window.

Side note, looks like a spot on the rear spoiler where the paint has failed, anyone had this? I'll re attack with some compund but it doesn't seem to be clearing out. probably a bit of pollen or bird lime, although I always clean those off as soon as I see them.

Yes please 👍
One with dashboard as promised

What I did yesterday: went to unlock the car for the first time in several weeks ahead of a planned drive round North Wales. Battery totally dead. Drive plan abandoned, went to Euro Car Parts for a new battery as the old one was knackered. The Bosch and Varta ones listed on their website as compatible aren't! Got a Yuasa one elsewhere and fitted it.

What I did today: did the drive I planned to do yesterday. Anglesey, Llanberis Pass, Evo triangle etc. Good fun. Got a "that's a nice car" from a bloke in a car park.

Great to see some of you guys doing some proper drives.
Last night I had a great drive to my brother's and back. He lives on the border between Cumbria and North-Yorkshire, so the roads surrounding his house are amazing. Love this car <3

Drove to my nearest Mazda dealership and had a test drive in a new MX5-RF. I thought the GR was small, but this thing was like a matchbox and it transmitted every ridge, rut and bump straight to your seat. Very agile, but not a patch on the GR86. Before I went inside, one of the guys working there came across and said "You're not seriously going to trade that in for an MX5 are you?!" As Simon Cowell might say "It's a NO from me".

I also drove mine to a Mazda dealership this morning....but only because we had to drop the missus' CX60 in for a service. Didn't get a chance to poke at the MX5s, but I do miss my old MK3 in this weather.

Thunder & Lightning (very very frightning, Galileo, Galileo etc) and the rain then stopped, so after waiting all week I set and washed the car. Bee poo, bird poo, various bits of detritus all cleaned off. Sun blazing again now before I finished . . . happy to give it a final bit of wax after the sun has gone down a bit and I'll take the battery conditioner off too

Took the car out for a drive and stopped off at Shuttleworth to see what was flying about.
Turns out they have an extremely rare aircraft flying in the display at the weekend. A Daimler Benz engined Me109e.
Anyone who knows aircraft should know that you only normally see these aircraft flying as a Buchon with a RR Merlin fitted up front.

It interesting to hear what people opinions are on the 5. My ND (soft top) is 10.5 years young as is in the top 3 cars I have owned, I see its size as only a good thing in this world of overtly huge cars. Depends on your reference, if you come from SUV’s then of course I see the reference to matchbox.
Compared to the GR86 they both have their strong points, but if I was having to pick one I would take the MX5 over the GR86. If we were all the same it would be boring eh!
PS my back and a$$ are fine with optional OEM sports lowered suspension and OEM Recaro seats. ;)

I’ve chopped my 86 in against an NC 3.5 MX5 that I’ll be collecting this week. Wanted something cheaper with the same ethos and I think they’re pretty close.

I took delivery of a nice big jug of oil, filter and crush washer for my "between service interval" oil change.

Given i dont do all that many miles i feel like it's maybe overkill, but for around the price of filling up with fuel, i think its worthwhile.

I also got one of those fire extinguisher stick things. Upgraded fuel system + a hot turbo under the bonnet makes me - not parranoid l, but feeling as though the exrra caution is well placed. I'd rather have a lightly singed car than a written off one. But preferably neither.
Hoping to find some time this weekend to do this and also install the steering wheel spacer that i bought off another member months ago and havent fit yet.

Oil and filter change done. It really is very easy on these cars. Still havent done the steering wheel spacer 😆
