GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Sigh.

Car parked outside my house. We were at the hospital. One of our neighbours knocked on the Ring doorbell, so we messaged him. He witnessed a lady up the road (who I know in passing) pull in front of my car as she was pulling in to let someone pass, swipe the front of it, then drive off.

Luckily when we got home she'd been around to make contact. She was mortified and said she didn't stop at the time as she was on the way to an appointment. But took responsibility. Said she knew it was my pride and joy and was so embarrassed. I actually felt a little sorry for but glad she held her hands up.

Still. Now I've got to do the claims dance. Hassle I could do without right now, tbh.

Weren't you there on holiday recently? Definitely recommended. Arguably the drive up from Abergavenny area was just as good! Baffle Haus is a great coffee stop too.
We go to the Baffle Haus in Bonvilston often. Last time we were stayed on Anglesey I was 2 mins from the track. I was awoken on the Saturday to bikes going around. I tend to go to Anglesey twice a year.

Attended the Japanese Car Day at Dundee Museum of Transport. Turned out to be a nice day (with only a spot of rain early on). As always, plenty of love all round for the Sonic plushies!!

End of Show Update - I won a prize too!
Looks like it was a fab day, as can be seen below!

As for myself, replaced the wiper blades with Denso ones. Look identical to the ones that came with the car but slightly different codes under the flap which was odd. Also got my fitness in for the day chasing the packaging down the street when the wind suddenly picked up!

Custom made, 2 weeks to arrive from Taiwan.
Easy enough job, watched couple of videos before. Took me an hour to fit from start to finish. Car now easier to get in and out. Wheel is just slightly thicker than original which makes it much more comfortable to hold. Really happy with the purchase.
That looks really good, could I ask for a photo looking directly at it with the dashboard please?

Sigh.

Phoned the bodyshop for an update today, as I hadn't heard from them since dropping in a week ago for them to assess the damage.

Bad news is that I don't really know when this will be fixed.
Good news is...that's because they were able to justify replacing the whole bumper, rather than just repairing the existing one :)

They'd initially said it would be a fairly simple repair. But I also said that I'd like to take the opportunity to get a small scuff on the opposite side seen too - so they said they'd see if they could authorise a bumper replacement, and it seems they might have been able to. So one silver lining is that at least I'll end up with a fresh front end. Downside is of course that I don't know what the lead time is on a new bumper so could be a while yet.

Might also have to take on the cost for getting a ceramic coat reapplied myself. I don't have the invoice for when it was done originally, it wasn't something I declared on my insurance (why would you?) and the company that did it doesn't really exist anymore (or at least doesn't do the same sort of detailing work for consumers). I think rather than jump through hoops trying to claim for it with everything going on in my life right now, I'll just get the car back, find someone who can apply the same coating (already know a couple) and then take that on the chin.

From what I’m aware, if you have ceramic applied to the paint you should tell the insurance company. Reason being if they need blow panels in then they need to know it’s been applied before prep.
If the body shop has issues whilst paint then they could tell the insurance company. Obviously this could lead to worse situations.
I have PPF and ceramic on mine and the insurance knows about it. Didn’t cost anymore so thought it was a no brainer just to avoid any embarrassing situations.
I wouldn’t trust any insurance company nowadays. They will try and get out of paying for anything if they can.

Pay your money and take your choice I suppose.

Spent the afternoon footering: jacked up the car, put it on wheel stands, cleaned each wheel and changed the gold tuner nuts for a new set in Neochrome. I'll wash the rest of the car another day ... Back is screaming and white tee shirt is now truly boggin' !
