Sooo…

Some of you might have already seen it: I bought another GR — this time from a client who unfortunately had an accident on the Nürburgring Nordschleife. He crashed the car and caused quite a bit of expensive damage.

The insurance company declared it a total loss. Technically, it could be repaired, but the cost would exceed the car’s market value — and for what the repair would cost, he could simply buy a used, undamaged GR here in Switzerland.

Fortunately for me, I’ve got nearly everything I need left over from my race car:
  • Subframe
  • Suspension
  • Steering rack
  • Door
  • Lower wishbone
  • Brakes (calipers, discs)
  • Airbags
The only parts I had to buy were:
  • Fender
  • Driveshaft
  • Headlight
  • Wheel Bearing
  • Wheel Hub

The differential might also be damaged, but we won’t know for sure until the car is back together and ready for a test drive. If that’s the case, I’ll probably upgrade my race car with a 1.5-way diff and use its OEM one for this build.

The rear quarter will be repaired as best as possible — same for the front and rear fenders. I don’t mind a few scratches or small dents as long as they’re not too obvious.

We’ll also be using this project to try out new parts and work with a few partners we haven’t featured on the race car build — and of course, there will be more videos coming to YouTube.
Plus it will get a lot of leftover used parts from the race car.

Here’s the first one:
