Quick question on this please - was the clunking sound as you opened the door (and it automatically drops)? Or was it when you manually opened/closed the window? Mine makes a noise when I open the door but I’m not sure if it’s the regulator or the window slightly sticking to the rubber seal.

Took the 86 for our weekly food shop today (weather was lovely so thought it deserved a run). Pulled into the car park and was followed in by a guy driving a newish Suzuki Vitara. I pulled up in a space at the far end of the car park miles from anyone else and the guy in the vitara made his way...

Bit of a general observation/question…..anyone else noticed the number of GR86 for sale on autotrader has reduced in the last month or so? At one point I’m sure there were close to 40 for sale and today there are just 21. And it would seem prices have levelled off a bit too?

I took mine out on a long drive on Saturday (first long drive in a while) and felt like the car got more attention than ever before….had some kids in a max power style Fiat Punto pointing and staring, had a positive “nice car” comment in the petrol station and had 2 cars blatantly trying to race...

Very interesting read and I can relate to all your points. I’m in a similar position to you (2.5k miles in 12 months), and whilst I’m not considering selling it all, my biggest issue is it’s an expensive car to be spending most days sat on the drive. My advice, similar to what others have said...

Had my first service (now 12 months old and done 2500 miles) today at the supplying dealer Toyota Cardiff - it was originally Wilson’s but is now FRF. All seemed to go fine - I double checked before hand that they had the filter in stock and it seems they did! Also of note they seemed to hoover...

I think it’s more about the fields behind, you just get more flies in the countryside than you do in towns….I’ve lived on a farm all my life and any light coloured cars we’ve owned are magnets to flies in the summer. I’ve got a silver GR86 and it’s been covered in flies (and the associated fly...

Just came back to the car at the local supermarket and a guy stood opposite it next to his car (4 series bmw) shouted over “hey mate, what’s a GR?” …..I went on to tell him it’s Toyota’s racing brand etc (I don’t think he even realised it was a Toyota) and he said “lovely looking car”, before...

I think you’ve perfectly summed up my experience of the car so far….and to be fair I’m ok with all those home truths which you’ve listed. Point number 9 is the one which has surprised me but since ownership I now totally agree with - most people don’t know what it is or aren’t that interested!

Similar situation for me but my kids are teens- one is 5’6”” and the other close to 6’…they can just about squash in on passenger side but they complain so much. Like you, they prefer the Dacia Sandero we have as a little run around!!! Seems crazy to me as when I was a teen I would’ve loved to...
