Forum Event Sportscars in the Park 3/5/26 Newby Hall, Ripon

We went in the hall after lunch and the weather picked up. Ended up having a ride on the train , grabbing another coffee, and letting the kids loose in the adventure playground. My car looked a bit lonely when I went back to it. Photo credit goes to Gary Ward, who posted it to Facebook.

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I managed to get a photo showing the condensation in the camera. John Roe Toyota in Hull replaced the camera under warranty when the car was in for diff oil replacement, no fuss at all.

With the cars, no cover other than a few trees and maybe some gazebos. Newby Hall has the manor, cafe, and one or two more buildings to look around.

    GR86 Initial thoughts

The lights do come on when you approach it, but they also stay on indefinitely if you turn them on manually. Worth remembering, because it will drain the battery in a single night!

GR86 Oil Consumption and Pressure Issues?

I expect it would depend on what shows up when Toyota scan it, and where you bought it from. If it was Toyota approved used I would think they’d have to honour the warranty as long as you’ve not done anything abusive since you took ownership. If it was from an independent dealership I expect...

GR86 Oil Consumption and Pressure Issues?

I've never had to top up the oil between services. I did 5k miles in each of the first 2 years of ownership, didn't see any oil consumption whatsoever and I'm less cautious than you - I certainly don't keep it below 3.5k rpm for anything like 20 minutes. I can't help but wonder how your car was...

GR86 GR86 values at the end of 2025, are they worth it and what else can you get?

My miles are really down for year 3. I do find I sometimes talk myself out of using it. This weekend for example, we’re doing a trip that takes 80 minutes on the motorway or over 2 hours avoiding motorways. If I were going alone I’d absolutely go using the B roads, but I can’t justify asking my...

GR86 Some pics of my work in progress.

It looks like it could mount with two completely concealed bolts into the plastic part of the boot. Add a bit of VHB or tiger seal for dampening and weatherproofing and you’ve got a clean install, fully reversible for the price of the garnish assembly, which is even available pre-painted. How...

    GR86 Initial thoughts

It’s covered here: https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/gr86-auto-fold-mirror-kit.2752/page-6#post-84562 Essentially, when the car is locked the mirrors fold. When it is unlocked they unfold. Really surprised it’s not a standard feature of the car to be honest!

    GR86 Initial thoughts

I’m also not sure I’ll ever trade it for another car. While not perfect, I think it’s the best balance of practicality, price, power, and fun that’s available, and with the way the car market is going I’d be surprised if anything bests it before petrol cars are banned. Smart entry system is...

GR86 Some pics of my work in progress.

It’s a great looking wing, I first saw it in late 2024 but couldn’t find it anywhere. I think it suits the car better than anything else I’ve seen. It appears to stick on with 3M tape on the Amazon listings I’ve found...

GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I expect that’s happened while parked, not while driving. Pretty sure the electric blue is a single stage plus clearcoat. Lucky it’s on the spoiler and not a large panel. Repair will likely be £150 - £250, plus the cost of getting new PPF.
