Hey Folks

I had an alignment at Toyota this week - they replaced a worn rear trailing arm bush and this was the result

  • Should I be concerned about the front right caster?
  • Is there much adjustment here?
  • What might cause them to be unable to get it within recommendations?

You can‘t setup caster on OEM suspension, so you‘re stuck with what you get.

And 17‘ Caster is nothing to be concerned about, especially while having 18‘ Camber difference.
I bet, as soon as you‘d even out camber L/R, caster would be nearly the same as well.

Thanks @Phil1291 , good to know.

Was concerned it may indicate some wear in a bush or something.

I’m about to have mine done over the next few days. Is this a reasonable set up for standard road use with a completely stock car? I like to have a bit of fun on quiet B roads but aware of my own very average ability, would favour a fairly conservative set up.

I‘d go for about -2 degrees camber front and back, you‘ll need camber bolts for that, and a little bit toe in (around 10’ total per axle) front and back for a good road setup.

Toyota specifies no more than 0°45' (0.75°) left-right caster difference; so, you're fine in terms of your query.

Other than that, I wouldn't be terribly impressed by the rear toe left-right difference, nor the thrust angle.

But then again, apart from the rear camber perhaps, there isn't much I would leave as is on that sheet 😊

4x T90105-17015 to get -2 at the front?

No to the parts, from me.

Toyota camber bolts have so many disadvantages that I believe @Phil1291 refuses to use them.

There may be a Bank Holiday discount for Powerflex bolts soon, which are cheap anyway 😉. A decent alignment will cost you much more than these parts.

Leaving your rear camber intact, I would comfortably go for -2.5 front camber to start with, as long as you don't mind a tiny bit of compromise in braking performance.

I would also install a caster kit to increase caster, which would effectively also mean some (more) dynamic (negative) camber.

Toe, very subjective; I would keep a bit (eg the minimum Toyota allows or just over) of toe in at the rear and give it an equal bit (or less) of toe out at the front.

All that is probably more than a starter-for-ten which should bring a noticeable positive difference in terms of agile handling and reducing understeer. With a bit of luck, you will like it and stick to it. But there is a risk that it's just the start of a never-ending journey of costly exploration where changing one element affects others, you get used to settings and want "more", etc.

@Spirited and @Phil1291 are these the correct powerflex bolts?

Just one pair needed?
It replaces the upper bolt. so yes one kit is enough, consiting of two lobe bolts.
