Good afternoon, I will use this thread as an introduction, and brief history of Desmond RegaMasters, for those that are not knowledgeable.

I know there are some that follow me on instagram, and have expressed a liking to the wheels, so I am hoping there are some more on the forum who do too!

History

The Desmond Wheel Co. Ltd originated in Japan in the early 1990s, and their most iconic and popular wheel, the RegaMaster EVO, was born in 1995. A true forged wheel, designed by Rightman (http://rightman.co.jp/) the wheel became famous as it was a 15” wheel that weighed less than 4kg.

Initially seen on small Hondas in the Japanese tuning scene, as the super low weight and high strength was seen as a huge benefit to those who tracked their cars. Spoon Sports SW388 wheel was based on the Desmond RegaMaster design, and was also made by Desmond, with a unique black anodised coating. Some period footage here from Best Motoring shows the wheels:

In 1997 the wheel became more famous when it was used by the RE-Amemiya team, on their JGTC RX-7.

The wheel started to gain attention in Western countries, when Gran Turismo 2 was released, and the Spoon cars featured the iconic wheel design. As the wheels were only made available to retailers in Japan, the wheels were only seen in the UK and Europe when cars were imported that had the wheels already fitted.

The manufacturer

Until the late 2000s, the wheels were made in Russia. Today, they’re made in Japan by Taneisya, a company with a rich heritage of producing motorsport wheels, from Formula 1, to the Aston Martin Le Mans team – run by Prodrive – using their wheels on the Vantage GTE car.

The leading forged wheels manufacturers are SMW Engineering (Russia), Washi Beam (Japan) and TWS (Taneisya - Japan). All the most renowned manufacturers, including BBS and OZ, purchase blanks or finished wheels from these manufacturers.

Today

The original line of RegaMaster EVO wheels was discontinued, and in 2017, the original designer Rightman updated the design, taking into account modern metallurgy and manufacturing techniques, bringing us the RegaMaster EVOII.

Desmond Wheels EU were established in 2022 to bring the high quality RegaMaster wheel to Europe. Geoff bought some Regamaster EVO in 15” to go on his DC2 Integra Type-R back in 2008, and the passion for quality, lightweight wheels designed for racing, has not faded.

As a part of the update process, a wider range of wheels was designed, which includes many new 18” fitments, including 18x8.5 + 38 @7.9kg, I have also had owners get in touch and express interest in the 18x9.5 +45 @ 8.1kg, and there is the famous red car from Australia that was running 18x10 +35...

If you’re interested in some true forged wheels, and not those that include the word forged or similar for marketing purposes, please get in touch.

The full range of sizes are attached to this post. There are a further range of 19” wheels available for pre-order, including in specific GR Supra fitment/offsets.

Do you make custom sizes or are planning to make 18x9.5 et38 or any 18x9 sizes?

Hello!

There is going to be an 18x9 coming out next year, however, it's 5x120 in +45 offset to suit FK2 Civic.

In terms of a new offset for 9.5, the range obviously spans that with a +30 and a +45, and to my knowledge nobody has asked for one that sits in the middle before, unfortunately there aren't any plans to bring a new offset out in that size.

I will ask if there are any further plans for 18x9 fitments from the factory that I haven't been made aware of, sometimes they do stuff and I don't find out about it until it's ready for release.

Is that a +45 offset you were looking at? The mildest offset in an 8.5 offered is a +38, or another popular size people have asked about is a 9.5 +45

I had been eyeing for a set of perfect white color wheels and I decided to go with Desmond Regamaster Evo II with size of 18x9.5j ET45. Placed order through a local dealer in my country and probably takes couple months to arrive.

The only concern I had was stock GR brake caliper clearance with ET45 but looked around the internet, seems like able to fit without spacer or issue - I hope.

They fit without spacers.

I have a customer in Switzerland who is waiting on his to arrive, they’re still on the boat heading over now.

I am sure we will get some more pictures when they’re fitted!

I am not sure if I should ask the question here but it is mainly for the Desmond Regamaster Evo II wheels that I am waiting. What lug nuts should be used on these wheels? I am considering RAYS 17HEX Long Type, or what else would you recommend please?

So they are homologated in Switzerland then? 😎

Not yet. I have been in discussion with three dealers in Switzerland that want to bring the product over, and we have been looking into what they can do to achieve homologation without formal testing. Watch this space!

I'm so sorry for not responding to you sooner. There is a new website about to launch, and I've spent so much time on that I've neglected my duties.

Any 60° taper nuts will do. I sell KYO-EI products as I like the quality that they offer, but the Rays ones will do just fine if you like the style of them. :)(y)

I am obsessed with these wheels. 18x8.5" with 38 ET does clear the brakes?

I’ve not had a customer fit any in that size yet, but I will be honest and say that I would be amazed if they didn’t. Brake clearance to the spokes is something that RegaMasters are very good for.

It's been a while; I will be receiving the wheel via courier today - hopefully no delay!

I did not manage to get the Gloss White and not sure what was the reason, they did not make for me in the factory. But, offered me Bright II color instead. I took it anyway.

Got to know Bright II is newly introduced color around 2 years back, full diamond cut process wheel!
