As the number of GRs is swelling North of the Wall, I've had a chat with @GR-Admin and have been granted permission to gauge if there is sufficient interest in having some GR-ZOO representation at the Scottish Festival of Motoring, which takes place at the Royal Highland Centre, Edinburgh on Sunday 14th July 2024. It's probably Scotland's largest gathering of motor enthusiasts covering the whole of the show ground at Ingliston, including the two central halls. The show features Modifieds, Classics, Retros, Motorcycles and of course a great many Car Clubs attend to show off their own vehicles.

For those of you that have been part of exhibiting at a car show before then you'll be familiar with the routine. For those that have never been an exhibitor, it will mean an early start and a full day at the showground. Experience says bring yer jammie pieces, bottles of juice, a chair, a warm coat and an umbrella (for both sun and/or rain). Don't forget some car cleaning stuff too btw!

I appreciate that July is a time that many people go away on Holiday etc., no need to apologise here if you can't attend - This post is only to gauge interest to see if we'd have enough cars to meet the 5 minimum required for a group/club booking.

For information, Driver tickets for 2024 are priced at £10, which is half the cost of an entry ticket. Passenger tickets are £20. Public Adult entry ticket prices are shown on the website (bear in mind that parking usually costs £5+ too if you are intending to just visit).

Thanks for reading. Please complete the attached Poll.

I would be up for that. I think I went to the event a few years ago and it was a decent day, before the rain! 😁

Bumping this - it would be nice to have a show presence north of the border but it needs support for it to happen.
Open to GR Yaris, GR86, GR Supra etc

Thanks to @Sonic for attempting to organise something. (y)

Okay GR people, if we are going to make this worthwhile then I think it'll need 10 cars for the GR-Zoo stand, that way the general public will have something to look at. If we don't get the numbers then unfortunately the SFOM event will likely not go ahead.
For those volunteering, please be aware that it will be an early start on Sunday 14th July, as all cars have to be on site and ready before the show opens to the public at 9am. 🥱
To allow for ticket purchase etc., the list will close Tuesday 2nd April 2024.
I'm going to start an attendee list below, so if you would like to exhibit your car and represent GR-Zoo then respond in a similar vein and we'll make a final list nearer to the event. Please include forum username, vehicle type and colour. This is open to ALL GRs in the zoo (Yaris, 86, Supra, GRMN etc).

1. Sonic - GR86 - Electric Blue.
2. 911sse - GR86 - Ice Silver.
3. AWB - GR86 - Magnetite Grey.

** BUMP **
Adding the last bump before this SFOM thread closes on 2nd April. If you would like to attend and display your car, please comment in this thread with your forum username, vehicle model and colour. Full details are in the first post up there ..👆

Did we get enough people to attend
No @Geoff, we haven’t enough unfortunately. There just isn’t the interest to achieve the numbers required. Thanks though to @911sse, @AWB and yourself for volunteering but, this event can be ‘deleted’ from your calendars as it will not go ahead as detailed.

[[In place of attending the SFOM Edinburgh I shall be visiting Glamis Castle on the Saturday, for the 2024 Scottish Transport Extravaganza (it’s free parking). I’m also entered in a few shows as an individual, starting with the Kilrymont one at Craigtoun Park.]]

Thanks to @Sonic for suggesting this, it's a shame interest was insufficient because it would've been nice to see an event north of the border.
