Greetings and welcome to my poll,

Im getting older and as I do I have began to notice an increased will to do things I want to do, without regard to others (dont read to much into this before reading the rest, thanks).

In this case I know i'd possibly be called a weirdo in some circles and for this reason I have fought off the urge this long.

The urge is getting strong now. I like a matt steering wheel. I'm on the verge. On the verge on buying perforated driving gloves to protect my steering wheel from getting glossy.

So the question is: Can this forum save me from myself or will you enable me in going full wannabe moviegetawaydriver and buy a pair.

Please help!

depends on your feeling and equipment. with alcantara steering wheel I feel nuissance if used without gloves. With generic steering wheel I don't see why gloves would be needed. Though I often use gloves when driving on race track. habits etc. btw didn't answer poll as felt there was not correct option available.

I hate a glossy steering wheel but I don't wear gloves, I just give it a good scrub.

for a cold days I feel (literally) the benefit of using gloves - not so much on the GRY or others with heated steering wheel... to the point I bought and have a pair on the 'glove'-box, but I end-up quickly taking those off because they are unusable for any touch-screens /phones etc. Maybe fingerless gloves are the sweet-spot/mid-ground?? ...

I do have a pair of leather driving gloves which I've had for many years. I used to wear them on crisp cold days when I had the hood down on my soft tops (124 Spider, MX5, MR2). This poll/post has prompted me to dig them out and try them with my GR86.

Any recommendation on driving gloves , so I can respond to this survey?

One pair to combat the non-heated steering wheel , the other pair for when I want to feel like a racing driver as I sit in traffic ( ie must be discreet)

I can only answer personally, but for me it's a big no. They destroy feel for me and most people on modern cars grip their wheel too hard. Unless one has uncontrollable palm sweat driving on track in high summer heat with AC off, don't see how I could lose grip of the wheel...

Driving on track or in a simulator, then I would wear gloves. But out on the road, even with an alcantara wheel, then no. There’s a loss of feel and feedback.

I rejected the idea of wearing my Alcantara steering wheel with cool Sparco gloves. It turned out that the gloves were peeling off the Alcantara. It is better to use it with your bare hands and brush the Alcantara more often.

Since I still have the beard of a 12 year old virgin, my only option is to wear very eye-catching sunglasses .
