Short introduction to myself, my name is Chris, 40 years old, Dr. in mechanical engineering, since my childhood I build and fly RC planes and helicopters and do sailplaine-gliding, so I like aerodynamics
I like the vents from speed engineering, but they don't have a spoiler in front, so the offset of the vent will become a turbulator and turbulent air wants to follow surfaces easier than laminar flow, so they want to curl in the vent.
That's the point I started in my christmas hollidays.
I have no 3D scanner so only foto, and ruler and so on and desiged them. Than I talked to the TÜV if this is possible to use on track.
He gave me some advides, radii and that I don't cut the main-frame, the big struts und the underside.
But, if necessary, I can cut the parts which are not so prominent/thick, this is more a subframe.
So I measured the distance from the outside to the end of the main-frame
My first attempt was to print the complete mesh, but the flow-area will be reduced, so I have now a 3 piece vent > Main-Vent, mesh, mesh-frame.
And for the rain, I designed a cover that can be screwed on with an outlet for a 10mm tube.
The will be produced in SLS PA12 with a 6,3x6,3x1mm stainless steal mesh
