Totally Hooked
Me too. First service I've been quoted for £315. But I'm bringing my own oil so should be less.I’m on a similar page. I really wouldn’t want the car being hacked about installing an aftermarket alarm.

Worth checking if your local dealer is part of the discount incentive on Toyota Owner’s Club. £20 annual membership but 10 or 15% off servicing.Me too. First service I've been quoted for £315. But I'm bringing my own oil so should be less.
This sounded promising. Not sure if this is news or not as I’ve not followed the full thread but this is the response I received
“We are currently awaiting feedback from Toyota Motor Europe regarding a possible system update which would enable an alarm to be fitted but we have no timescale we can advise on at the moment. We will come back to you if we have anything further on this.
Toyota apologises for any disappointment caused.”
This not so much. This is what they have replied to me, they seem to be giving a bit of a different reply for each rather than just copying and pasting the same to all:
"Thank you for your email and I apologise for not responding sooner.
We are currently waiting on further information from Toyota Motor Europe with regards to the alarm and why it would be stated on the specification sheet. If we have anything further to add we will be back in contact with you.
Just so you are aware, this will not impact your insurance as the alarm is not Thatcham approved."
Thanks for letting us know.Just got an email, that they won't be fitting an alarm as it doesn't affect insurance groups. Absolute rubbish I think as the premium is about 4k without an alarm, and 1k with an alarm. I think everyone needs to kick up a fuss for them to realise how serious this is
It's not really even about the insurance quotes to be honest, I'm more annoyed that I bought it thinking it has an alarm, then found out way afterwards that the official Toyota resource I saw was incorrect. Talking about insurance stuff is just going to narrow things down when the simple truth is, that we've been missoldI haven't had a response to my query from 20th Sept (other than the "we'll get back to you") I think there have been differing answers to different people so at some point we as a group are going to have to bring it to a head and "attack as one" and start getting heavy handed with talk of class actions and the like, being fobbed of with a "it hasn't got an alarm and you don't need it" isn't totally unacceptable. If there is evidence of different insurance quotes with and without an alarm that will have an impact on our ongoing running costs they won't have a leg to stand on.
Is this correct?the premium is about 4k without an alarm, and 1k with an alarm
I wonder how common this is. My own insurance company just specifies "manufacturer's standard" for security, and when I raised it with them they told me it makes no difference as far as they (and therefore my premium) are concerned. If there is evidence of different insurance quotes with and without an alarm
That’s a dangerous assumption and why we need to stand together on this oneThanks for letting us know.
I wonder if they will inform all customers, as I have never received any contact from Toyota on this matter.
If I don't receive any communication from Toyota, I will continue to put on the insurance the immobilizer & alarm and if something happen that will be on them (I guess).

Same here. No difference to premium when adding 'Alarm'. Installing a £700 monitored 24/7 tracker with no-fob-no-start ... zero difference to policy either! I mean WTF?!I wonder how common this is.
