GR86 Scratchy Plastics

My door card and sill plastics are scuffed as my garage is tight. They get bashed most times I park my car in the garage.

I have tried a few products to clean but at last have found something that does the trick

303 aerospace protectant

I'd never heard of this before but found it mentioned on another forum.

I bought it on amazon (£16)

OCD me is happy now.

I ordered a set of AliExpress (not sure exactly which ones) but the fit was really poor, so much so I couldn't actually operate the windows.

Think I'll just leave mine as is or just look for a vinyl overlay to protect from scratches.

The AliExpress ones are cheap. You get what you pay for i guess.

Looks like it just needed some pucka 3m tape. The chinese tape was not man enough.

The lacquer on the carbon is getting scratch though now. :rolleyes: Gonna ban the dog from the front
 
Can anybody tell me what width CF Tape I'll need to cover the plastic bits just inside the doors please? I'm guessing that this area is a magnet for shoe scuffs when getting out, so I'll get an Aliexpress order going for some black CF stuff ready for delivery day. Choices are 3,5,7 & 10 cm. Would 5cm suffice?

5cm would cover the bulk of it, but I'd suggest going for 7cm so you can tuck the edges underneath to stop them getting caught and lifting in the future.

The photo below is the StickerFab kit. The narrowest part is 7cm and the widest is 10.5cm.

Thank you. I’ve got a full set of plastic pry-tools that have never been used in anger, so they could come in handy here.
 
Today's bling pretty much finishes my interior. Bar the side air vent covers which I'm still waiting for.

But In summary I've now done the Media Surround, Central Air Vents, Windscreen vents and Shift surround in carbon.

The area surrounding the track mode and tcs buttons is in suede, as are the A pillars. A pillars make a huge difference IMHO.

Sorry about the crap lighting, the pillars took longer than expected.

PS. If anyone has any desire for a carbon piece (same style as below) to cover the metal trim above the glovebox on passenger side then post on here or DM me. I've decided to keep that as is after some consideration, no charge or postage as it will easily slip in an envelope.

I'll pay more to ship it back to China.
