GR86 Windshield replacement

Might want to give them a call and confirm the specification of the windscreen while you wait mate. Mine finally arrived and it was incorrect. Their system which is apparently linked to Toyota's, shows that the manual GR86 is equipped with heating element and a camera, even when entering VIN, so it was made to the incorrect spec.

Back to square one for me.
Funnily enough it sounds like they’ve done the exact same with my windshield 🙃 thanks for the heads up, you’ve saved me a trip!

Four months later, one new crackless windscreen 🥳

For future reference, if anybody cracks their windscreen. Insist on a genuine part from Toyota, part number for manual is M TSU003-G0040.

Might take some time to get the okay from your insurance company, but worth it. I believe the biggest delay was them try to spec out and create their own windscreen from their supplier which kept being incorrect.

Ladies and gentlemen, 6 months later, we finally have new glass 🥳🎉

Another massive thanks to @--Rage-- , between us I think we've fixed Autoglass' system mess up and hopefully will make it easier for anyone else who unfortunately needs a new windshield too!

It got me dirty, too.

I wasn't even close to the cars in front of me. But that day was a bit stormy and the rock must have had some tailwind.
I hope it doesn't take as long as for you.
Is the Windshield the same for LHD and RHD? Then I can provide them the partnumber, mentioned here.

I just got struck by a flying stone on the M4 so I can now join the cracked windscreen club. It’s only small so reckon a repair will be feasible. It’s still frustrating though 🙈

I had to get my windscreen replaced within 3 weeks of ownership. A stone flicked up from a lorry while i was passing it on a dual carriageway that hit about 10cm from the top of the windscreen behind the rear-view mirror and cracked it instantly. It was £100 for my insurance excess to get it done with autoglass. I was gutted but also thankful that it hit the replaceable windscreen and not the bonnet or roof.

When I dropped it off, the guy said he was waiting for a trim, but then came back and said it's a re-useable trim. they replaced it and it seems fine.

hopefully my A-pillars wont rust through within a few years

I have had my windscreen broken today by a skip truck that slid off the road on the opposite side and threw mud and dirt all over the car. Single carriageway B road could have been very nasty. I suspect the motorbike behind rider needed a change of pants seeing an out of control skip truck coming our way. I will let you know how long it takes for the screen.

Quick update windscreens are now stock items for the GR86 at Autoglass. Have to take in as they can fit apart form in there work shop. Going in on the 04/04

They re-used the trim when they did mine, but I suspect its because they forgot to order one. Please let me know what they do with yours

Now here's a salutary tale for everyone to take notice of. I had a small windscreen chip, lower driver's side, some months ago and just never got around to having it fixed (it was so small and shallow). I finally made an appointment with Halfords for today - BUT the extremely hot weather this week has produced a 3cm (and slowly growing) hairline crack from the chip and now it's not repairable and I have to have a new screen! Going to contact insurer now for go-ahead, so that will be £100 excess plus £20? on next year's premium. While examining the chip, I found another tiny one a little below as well. At least AutoGlass should have a ready replacement (he said hopefully). Meanwhile, my 56 plate runaround Yaris is still resplendent with its original, unmarked screen.

Further news is that AutoGlass Cambridge have to order in a new screen and let me know when ready. Good job the car is still drivable with no visibility problems. I turned down the opportunity to pay for new wipers (only 9 months old) and a £39 'treatment' for the screen that is supposed to make it easier to clean (!). I did a quick look-round the front of the car earlier and the only places I've had a stone strike are on the screen. Nothing on bonnet, wings, bumper or PPF'd headlights!
