Being in the first batch of the GR86 orders I was very unimpressed with Toyotas handling like I’m sure many others were too.

I hadn’t realised that the Supra was having similar issues! It seems the manual has quietly disappeared from sale with rumours all Supras will soon be gone from the UK sales market!
I’ve read horror stories of people ordering the manual in pro spec which has been discontinued after order and the non pro being delivered to customers with no way to resolve it now the manual sales have stopped.

I love the fact Toyota are making these amazing small market cars but seriously, WTF is going on with them!

Mmmm. Could this be something to do with the emissions rules that are starting next year? It's been in the news recently that Toyota has said that the new rules are going to be "challenging".

When I read on the forum a few weeks ago that all the GR86's were to be registered this year, and then subsequently reading in the newspaper about the potential fines, I thought, ah, could that be why all the GR's need to be registered by the end of December?

Could the Supra could be victim of this too? I think the fines could be £15k per car!

Complete supposition on my part, it could all be load of rubbish!

I read about this the other day. 22% of new cars need to be zero emissions next year, which probably hard for Toyota as they only have one BEV model and it isn't that well received. That combined with the GSR2 safety regs makes it much harder to sell fun sports cars in the UK next year.

I read about this the other day. 22% of new cars need to be zero emissions next year, which probably hard for Toyota as they only have one BEV model and it isn't that well received.

That bit shouldn't matter to the GR86, because it's a low sales model anyway, so not likely to skew the sales percentage much.

But being a low sales model, it's not worth their effort to make the changes needed for it to meet safety regs.

You are right, of course - I just wanted an excuse to use what I think is a pretty funny picture!

If anything encapsulates how many of us 'first wave' orders felt as we headed deep into winter last year, it's Michelle Alozie's face here!

IMO it comes back to Toyota UK biggest issue, they have zero communication skills.

How many months were the GR86s held in Derby with no info on why or when they would be released.
Sam with Supra now, tell people these things are happening and why! I can’t imagine this 1 in 4 (if it is the issue) would have been a surprise, if they had communicated they may have had more orders!

To me it just rings out poor strategy from the top. So much smoke and mirrors, I feel for both customers and those at the dealership end, they are the ones who will be bombarded by customer questions whether they are new or angry, with no definitive answers, you would just feel dumb.

Whether that's GB level or Europe, either way someone who earns alot of money is doing a properly sh*t job.

It was exactly the same when the Yaris arrived. I think it was end of October/early November they arrived in country but they were held with no communication to dealers or customers as to why.
