Hi All,

Does anyone have any ideas for any extra storage cubbies in the GR86?
Now that I have the carlink, I'm not using the brodit clip, so looking for space to put my phone, keys?
The carlink takes up one of the cupholders in the arm rest, and would prefer the arm rest closed.
Anyone had any new ideas to make a bit more storage in the 86?

Cheers.

I can't remember where, but I'm sure I saw a link fairly recently with a little plastic tray that would attach to the trim in front of the gearstick, giving you somewhere for small items. Keys and phone though, I just keep in my pocket. Phone is connected via Carsifi, so I only need to get the phone out if I want to keep it on charge for a long journey, and keys - well, surely the whole point of keyless entry is that you never have to take them out of your pocket.

I'll get a photo later but on my Japanese brochure there's a cubby between the centre one and the buttons for the heated seats.

It was in this thread - there's a link in it to the ebay item

Cheers, this might just work, although the phone would block off some of the buttons. Interested to see the japanese brochure one.

I've carlinkit connected and it fits behind the sockets and allows the lid to close so it doesn't take up one of the cupholders. i need to add some double sided tape to hold it in place but it doesn't move much.

Yeah, I've seen it on Youtube mounted to the front bulkhead using numberplate strips/3M tape. With a short USB lead it didn't seem to interfere with the cup holders - that's if fitting two Starbucks/Nero/Costa etc., is an important factor ;)

I've got this

Goes just behind the arm rest and it's pretty useful for when everywhere else is full! I've kept it with the velcro to be able to remove, as you can't collapse rear seats fully with it installed

That’s a good item. I’ll probably take a look on AliExpress to see if they have one at a more realistic price than eBay.

Yes I just realised I got a refund on the ebay one as I must have found another one cheaper. £30+ for some 3d plastic printing is a lot!

Did you manage to find a cheaper one? Aliexpress I could find was £25 plus postage so would work out the same?

I checked and still paid about £31 actually for the Ali express one vs Ebay was €44 which works out at £36ish.
Still a lot for what it is, but fits well and is useful. I might line it with something as stuff does clatter about in it

Figured out some extra space, with carlink thing, phone fits neatly in the door handle, leaving room for your iron-bru  - couldn't take a picture of the phone in the slot for obvious reasons

realised you can't have starbucks in door holder:

need to sort out some boot storage nets for the rest of my 6 pack multicans so they don't roll around and explode in the boot on spirited drive...

This works pretty well in the boot: Vertical Cargo Net. I think it is dealer only though. Part number TPT347-18220. £31 plus VAT.

Good picture in this post, thanks to @PVGR

Some rainy day mods to add more storage. 1st up rear storage, doesn't actually come with everything you need, it's attached underneath by Velcro, but the leather base you need to purchase some double sided tape to stick on yourself.

2nd GR branded option, I can't see how this will hold up on a spirited drive with a drinks can in, I may need to add some extra strength double sided tape to keep it secure, it literally just slips down the side of the seat.

How are you getting on with the seat gap thing?

I'm looking for something like that now but more subtle if possible lower into the gap , if anyone has bought anything similar? (or can push this one down a bit ??)

Some Ali Express seat gap things look a bit odd but interested in any reviews !

You can easily move it around and push it further down or back - it's not very secure that you could put a drink in, but I use it to hold my sunglasses and phone which works well.
