Thruxton Track Day 20th July

I got the same email too. I guess they don’t want a family of 5 turning up to raid the buffet all day. I’m looking forward to the event. It’ll be interesting to see others cars and hopefully some Supra/GR86 too.

I couldn’t make it today for reasons out of my control, I emailed them last night saying my spot could be taken by anyone on wait list / no doubt too late but small chance of my slot not being wasted / gutted but hope you all enjoy !

I thought it was a top day out for fans of the GR brand (y) Nice also to have a track day where driving standards were pretty high, didn't see anyone spin or go off, which is rare. You know when you get some idiot who has to be the fastest thing on the track, driving aggressively with no manners, but I didn't see any of that yesterday. Was fun to just join the back of a group and follow everyone round.

Toyota brought their own 86, Supra and Yaris along so you could take a test drive. I took the Yaris for a spin and thought it was marvellous. Also possible to spot their yellow Supra a mile off and learn the lines by following that round.

In my 86, I may have slid a little bit round some of the corners but there were no black flags, the marshals seemed happy to let everyone have a play.

Great start for the first UK GR track day.

I also had a great time and thought it was a really well run event. Great value for money given everything that was laid on for us!

Also agree on driving standards I was in group 2 and everybody followed the track etiquette well. I saw one yellow flag when a supra in front of me spin out in the last session but it was probably tiredness and he recovered pretty quickly. Would definitely go again if Toyota run another.

Has anyone who attended on Thursday received the official photos yet?

Great day out. Kudos for Toyota investing in this. I hope they realise this was a wonderful customer relationship exercise that has the ability to garner long term brand loyalty if repeated in the future.

I fear what the kerbs will do to the dampers 😁

Eco tyres holding up well, though (y)
