GR86 Extending the waiting list?

Well done those who’ve got a confirmed order. . I’ve a friend who had the email invitation explaining he had to decide whether to place an order by this coming Thursday - he got an email tonight saying his option to purchase has now expired.

Maybe the UK allocation is now done?

Did he pay the £1000 deposit? The deadline to confirm the order is on 20th July but the last day to pay the deposit was on 16th July.

No he hadn’t … he was still mulling it over. And now he’s missed out

Not according to Toyota. Looks like it was simply missing his deposit deadline.

Sounds like he wasn't sure about it anyway.

Everyone was given a different date a few days after their initial invitation email. They put a deadline on it and then move on to the next person on the list. Nothing else has changed but Toyota obviously want to move through the list briskly to get as many sold as they can.

Re getting as many sold as they can: it certainly looks like they have a set amount to sell, so can't exceed that, given that you can no longer order an automatic.

Mine was 4 days to pay deposit, by Sunday and then to confirm the order by the following Thursday. I got an email yesterday telling me that my offer to buy had expired.

Appreciate supply is not unlimited, but what I mean is that they are keen to give as many on the waitlist an opportunity as they can, hence moving on to the next in line after 4 or 5 days. I would have gone for it but got lucky with a brand new GRY, and wouldn’t let that go.

A bit of advice if you don't mind chaps. I paid my £1000 deposit on Thursday morning, and as of yet i haven't had the second email.

I appreciate it comes within 5 working days but i'm starting to get a twitchy bum. Do yoi think it's time to chase up?

Ring Toyota online if you have any doubt, just to check they have your order.
Don't want to lose it for some reason.

There doesn’t seem to be any logic re the process.. I placed the £1,000 deposit last Thursday at around 2pm and got the email by 5pm.. Not a ringing endorsement for Toyota UK who I’ve never dealt with before

Par for the course regarding the sales of the GR86. They pissed me off from the start a year last April when I had a deposit down at the deslers for one, only for them to make it online only so they can get a hyped up headline that the car sells out within 90 minutes. OK I got a chance to buy a year later but it was too late for me. Their sales process for the GR86 has been an absolute joke from the start.

Have you tried logging in to myToyota on the website to see if you can finish your order?

No i certainly don't. The money is out my account and i have a confirmation email but sounds like that isn't enough to be confident of an order.

I'll call them tomorrow and let you all know how i get on.
