I’ve left mine two weeks before so I was very confused. Plus other cars I had/have are fine with being driven less than this.Mine has been left for a week here and there and started ok each time. It does sit on the CTEK quite frequently though.
Ongoing at the moment?Hi, Exactly the same issue with mine, (same reading as above) and no doubt due to car being sat for several months pending excuses and delivery to dealership. Worst still is the ongoing poor service. I know issues happen but it how they are dealt with. 3 days chasing dealer and still no reply !
Doesn't fill me with much confidence. Hope they do the right thing and just replace themI’ve left mine two weeks before so I was very confused. Plus other cars I had/have are fine with being driven less than this.
For other members concerned, suggest you toggle to the battery voltage display. If it jumps frequently between 12v and 14v you may have similar battery problems pending. Had to chase again today, and drop car back to dealer on Friday. Hopefully they put new battery in for me. Will keep you hosted.Doesn't fill me with much confidence. I must charge my jump pack, thinking about it!
From what I read that’s due to the smart alternator. For other members concerned, suggest you toggle to the battery voltage display. In fairness to Marshalls after speaking to the service manager they were pretty good. Dropped car in on Friday, and within 30 minutes was away, with new battery fitted. Hopefully others with cars from batch 1, (that were left idle for months) all get new batteries too if required. Good luck.Ongoing at the moment?
It's possible that if the boot was popped, then the boot light was on perhaps? I think it comes on as soon as the latch is released. In which case, depending how long it was sat, that might have been enough to drain the battery.I came out to my car on Monday to drive it, and found it unlocked, and with absolutely no power. I ended up forking out on a Noco Boost Plus (GB40) via Amazon to bring it back to life.
For ref, I think mine arrived in the UK around October/November and sat around until my January pickup, and I've only managed ~400miles so that probably hasn't helped, but when it was started I did notice the boot was popped - I suspect that the button got pushed in my pocket (a common occurrence) and the open boot may have helped drain the battery?
Perhaps I should also invest in a leather key fob cover to avoid future accidents?!
The fob buttons do seem very sensitive for sure. It certainly worries me when I get to my car to find it car fully unlockedIt's possible that if the boot was popped, then the boot light was on perhaps? This can happen if the battery is very low, the charger won't 'see' it.I left the car in garage for two weeks. Connected the battery yesterday to CTEK but it won’t recognise being connected and doesn’t start charging![]()
I tried another mains powered charger, but it had disclaimer that “jump starting” only works with voltage above 7.5V. And it didn’t work. This can happen if the battery is very low, the charger won't 'see' it.
Some chargers have a 'force' mode to get around this issue, or you can put another good battery in parallel for while to get it charging.
Alternatively, use a non-intelligent charger to bring the voltage up.
If the battery stays very low for any length of time it will likely knacker it.
Pushing is fine. Personally, I'd connect another battery up , leave it for a short while and it should take a little charge, then connect the charger. A cheap multimeter is a useful tool.I tried another mains powered charger, but it had disclaimer that “jump starting” only works with voltage above 7.5V. And it didn’t work.
Can these cars be safely pushed out in neutral? As last resort I can jump start it off my other car.
Or just leave it until tomorrow and call Toyota? Would they even do anything or tell me to get AA?![]()
I wouldn't be trying to jump start it that way, only recover the battery back to a usable level - bear in mind this might take a fair amount of timeI tried another mains powered charger, but it had disclaimer that “jump starting” only works with voltage above 7.5V. And it didn’t work.
