GR86 The 11 o'clock Club

No you’re not the only one I am really disappointed with the whole saga of having no idea when my car is coming. I am beginning to regret ordering one now and today I went into Alpine Manchester and have booked a test drive next weekend. I am kind of thinking I’ve missed out on other cars sat waiting with no idea when the GR will arrive. I am tempted to change colour and go to the back of the line.
I best try and get a Gr test drive booked as well then can decide one way or another.

Dont presume you will go to the back of the queue if you change Colour. I changed from White to Red & was told delivery would be July / August.
My car is now at the Dealers getting the free rear sensors fitted!

Nope. Totally with you.

My Alpine arrived in the country in December, I might be able to get it in two weeks. Once I have it, I'm going to test drive the GR and see how I feel.

That is a difficult choice! I test drove the GR as soon as it was available, loved it… but it’s not very practical and the longer I wait the bigger the doubt gets 🤣

I seem to be developing a not that bothered feeling! I had a longer test drive a few weeks back (still not that long though), it was hammering with rain, roads potholed to buggery, and just didn't have much fun. I'm sure it'll be a different story on a nice day, on my favourite roads. I hope so anyway!

Another doubt in my mind is a hankering for a new motorbike instead. £31k buys a pretty exotic superbike!

It’ll feel like a diff car on a sunny day, I can tell you that. Had my test drive on a wet day as well with lot of traffic around, and didn’t like the car. Still thought of taking the delivery given the rarity and amazing evo and auto express review published at the same time. When I took the delivery, on my drive back home, it felt like I was driving a completely diff car.
Further, I’ve noticed, and as have others, that as you get used to this car, esp the clutch, it gets better and more fun.

I'm genuinely surprised by this - one of the best things about my test drive was that the car was great even when just pootling about. I did get a good go in it (probably about 2 hours), but I knew I loved it in the first 50ft of driving it - would have this car up there right at or near to the top of the list of best cars out of all of the cars I've ever owned.

When I drove mine it was cold and the roads were still a bit greasy but it wasn't raining. But even if it had been raining, I'm pretty sure that I'd still have loved in within the first 50ft, it just felt right.

Sounds like your test drive was very similar to mine. I really wasn’t convinced that I would like the car as a result but I held firm. Picked it up last week and love it! On a good day, on a good road and without a £1000 excess to think about it’s a special car.

What a great position to be in. I've never driven a A110 but all the press I've read on it I think I'd love one!

Booked in at Macclesfield on sat morning to drive the GR hopefully it lives up to expectations.

Hey, patience is a virtue..

One I’m not good with, 20 years of IT project management across the oceans gave me an expectation regarding delivery schedules, milestones, time lines and drop dead points.
Sadly we have to accept that the world biggest motoring manufacture can’t sort out a piss up in a brewery.

They have told me 20th of May delivery, plus dealer time doing the sensors, and sorting codes for central locking, windows, mirrors.

So I’ll likely get it in October.

Back in May 22 I kept on thinking it will be a year, buy a M2 or a 718 as a stop gap. I should have, but didn’t, if I had I’d likely show no interest in the GR86 and would have flipped it.
I did a 50 mile test drive, went quite hard, but was rather underwhelmed by the experience.

Toyota know they have fudged up the delivery, but I’m pretty sure that internally they are just blaming Subaru for missing or jumping production slots.

On a positive note later delivery means the software bugs will be fixed, the service department will have practiced on other cars, so the learning curves should be complete. The knock on from that is your car, when it arrives, will be as right, as right can be.
A later delivery on a limited run car is normally a good resale tick.
