Hi all,

On another forum I’ve seen mention of the pilot sport 5 launched

“The new PS5 tyres have been released. The price on Demon Tweeks for 205/40/18 is £150.94, 205/40/17 is £113.40 and 225/40/18 is £106.63 (all including vat).”

So looks like stock OEM size (225/40/18) is pretty reasonable

For reference I’ve just checked demontweaks and pilot sport 4s is £169

I don’t know how they compare, I assume it’s a development of the 4 not the 4s but can’t be certain

I would guess its as you say and that the 4s replacement will be a 5s.

My Michelin salesman says that the Pilot Sport 5 is a predecessor of the regular Pilot Sport 4 and will NOT replace 4s.

Have PS4s become any more available yet?
I seem to be able to find them easy enough online. Never looked too much into it, so unsure if there actually stock behind the advert. A few of my friends have fitted them to other cars within the last few months

A quick google search online says it is indeed replacing Pilot Sport 4

Me - “I assume it’s a development of the 4 not the 4s but can’t be certain”

Forum - We must answer this several ways with alternative sources, there can be 0 doubt !

🤣😂

We look forward to your Pilot Sport 5S thread later in the year. :geek:

PS5 out now. Last day of the month - Feb ATS / Blackcircles had a Michelin sale and I got a set of PS5 fitted yesterday for £415 which I think is reasonable. The side walls do stand out which was mentioned on one review I saw. They feel a little harder and noisier than the Dunlops but they clearly grip very well around corners. At 4k miles a year I hope they will last me 5+ years. One of the Dunlops will now go on the Bola spare wheel ariving this week so I also saved some money there. Pitty there is nobody near me in Yorkshire that also needs a spare tire for the cost of a few pints as I will keep 1 but let the other 2 go to a good home.

I saw the new ps5 yesterday. It’s got an interesting look to the tread has small ribs on the inner deep parts. Weird!

It looks to have more and deeper tread than the PS4s that were at the tire centre for another customer. Apparently Michelin say the grip is better and will last longer. People who have used PS4s in the past will evaluate them beter than I can as first time with PS tires.

The PS5 is not a replacement for the PS4S. The PS4S will still have much better grip than a PS5.

Yes, you are correct. I have written that incorrectly. I meant PS fours not the PS4S which I have always seen that as a track/road tire.
I have seen reviews that say the PS4 will be eventually dropped for PS5 and I compared my PS5 next to a PS4 and it clearly had more tread which is what I am happy with as no track days for me.
They may eventually bring out the track PS5S to go with the standard PS5.

Hence your lower case 's' after PS4. My bad, though in my defence, the GRY doesn't come with PS4's from the factory so it will be a while before someone can compare like with like on a GRY. :)

It is dumb branding from Michelin if you ask me. Confusing at a glance. Especially when reading the internet.
